Ken
That’s definitely one of the classic Aero’s around here. I really enjoy seeing it.
Good to see you posting .
Cheers

There will be four more A-2s made in this rare leather showing up on our website next week
Made from a previously undiscovered bundle of FQs recently unearthed in our leather store

These will be the last ever, numbers 2-5 of only 5 that exist

What makes those hides so rare Ken, materials or who produced them? Keen to see the pics on the site. Shoot us a reminder please!

This particular Horsehide was developed around the time we first got the Jerky mid 90s if I recall correctly?
Up to that date we'd been using a Horween HH foir all our A-2s, Kahuna I think it was called? Again if memory serves me well this became unavailable.
We gave a rough spec of what we wanted to replace it with to several tanneries
From 3 or 4 sample lots ...............Jerky was unanimously declared the winner
I was the only one that liked what we referred to for a while as "Maine". That's what my 20 year old A-2 was masde from
That first batch of this HH was very second hand looking, out of 4 jackets worth I had two myself That in iself is rare, a third must have gone elsewhere and the other couple of FQs weren't used at the time but turned up very recently in our store, one 1756 Type A-2 was cut from this last lot, looks amazing IMO
Stored with these these two FQs we found a few more skins, second try from the tannery which was much cleaner, had less immediate character and, as by now we'd got off to a flier with Jerky, this leather was never taken any further. (Maybe wrong place Wrong time?)
Three more A-2 were made from these skins in the last week or so. They will wear like my A-2 but will take some hard work in the first couple of years to "knock the corners off"

While the source of our Jerky must remain an official and closely guarded secret ...................... the "Maine" was a Horween leather

And finally in horse and beautifully made by Julie Leitch a rare, ?? (Ten Brownie points if you’re the first to guess the name of this style) Clue - its a commission designed by the manager of a Company from which it takes its name and given out as prizes for hitting professional targets. It’s a bit of a ‘frankenjacket’ doesn’t need the external wind flap perhaps (I‘ve considered asking Aero to remove it if that’s possible), but it’s really comfortable and I like it

Great looking jackets, all of them.
Thanks for posting.

Looks very nice but overdried, esp considering it's noble lineage of Victory HH, seems to need some Pecard treatment Jeremiah.

no over dried or dried out in the least. This is the most supple jacket I have handled.
The shiny finish is off which can be deceiving.
the shiny shellac is merely a sealant which will make new leather more water and stain resistant. But if wears off with use. If yours has not it’s because it’s not worn as much as it should be.
