Wow Bert, amazing B-15A! The vintage mouton John used really makes the jacket.
Thanks Grant .... I was fortunate to come across this one. As CBI mentioned, JC doesn’t make many cloth jackets and he really did a nice job with this one.

I hope you guys are enjoying these threads. I thought I’d share another Good Wear jacket that I picked up a while back. This is definitely one of my favorites, because I believe it was one of John Chapman’s personal jackets . While I don’t have personal knowledge of that , the name tag leads me to believe that it might have been .

Here’s a rare bird , a GW B-15a . A great jacket that deserves more wear time than I give it.

Now that B-Man2 is the best jacket I've ever seen you post bar none, imho. And you've posted some beauties before and no mistake. Absolutely stunning. If we had a time machine and took that back to a USAAF base in 1945, no one would blink an eye. Cant say that about all the jackets on here of late, IMHO, just my view guys, but I know what my peepers are seeing. No "lipstick on a pig" with that baby.

CBI patch? Hmmmm
I know... it would have had to been a jacket that was issued around the early to mid 1930s and worn right up through the early 1940’s I’m guessing . PLUS.... it a Navy jacket with an USAAF patch . Kind of a strange huh?
Any ideas Couchy?
Edit : Since several of the AVG guys were Navy pilots I’m guessing that after the transition back to the US military they might have worn a CBI patch on their USN flight jackets . Just a guess .

Nobody loves patches more than a US Navy pilot..

CBI was post AVG... It looks good, go for it.. Hey, you're not John Chapman either, but the name plate is killer too...

Thanks Couchy :)This might be the answer to the question . Check this out. Here’s a photo of an AVG, USN M-422a jacket that’s in the Wright Patterson Museum . The jacket was owned by Donald Bell AVG Group . So I guess a USN pilot could have had a 37J1 that he was wearing during that period and had a CBI patch on it.

Possible.. yes. Probable.. 50/50...

Donald Bell was a clerk that commissioned into the AAF in China.. Where he got the Navy jacket? Who knows... A former supply buddy doing him a solid..

Here is my 27753 no name contract. Not sure of the age since I bought it second hand, but the grain is coming out pretty nice.
