Easy company patch

Hello everybody
I never presented myself, didn't find the place to do it
So to be quick i'm a leather enthusiast since 2016, i only started having interest in military styles like the A2 recently, my first jacket was a Schott 184sm which i still own, i now own around 15 jackets, 1 b3 rough wear eastman, 1 realmccoy A2, 1 b3 avirex in red color and the rest is from Schott(613, 141, 674sm...)

As a "fan" of the tv show band of brothers i would like to add the famous patch on a jacket, from what i have read it was a dubow 27798, i found one made in the 90's at my size
Now i only need the patch but i'm not sure about that, i don't want to put a low quality one on my jacket, also i don't know if the one used on the original was leather or not?
Do you know a place where i could buy a "good" one?
I've seen a few on ebay for 8/12e but i have doubts, i'm located in France

Thanks in advance :)

Most of the patches in 'Geronimo' and 'Badeges & Insignia of the World's Elite Fouces' by Bauduin Ourari (reference books) show cut edge cloth patches used by PIR personnel. There is a seller on EBay agb..something that does great repros. Match it with a good 101st patch!

Why not commission a painted one from the great artists here or on FB? Have you looked at getting art on the jacket?

Hi and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of repro 506 patches for sale but they are very different in quality. As the original patch shows an agressive and mean looking eagle, most repros shows something like a short breathed canary...

Ausreenactor showed a couple of reasonable looking repros. Go for the cloth / embroidered version of the patch. I think that Overlord France have a very acceptable repro in their assortment: https://www.overlord.fr/unites-airb...ry-regiment-101st-airborne-original-1944.html

See images from originals for comparison: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/original-wwii-506th-pir-airborne-3-patches

Good luck.

Hello,

thanks for your detailed answers, the one on overlord site is the best so far in my opinion, sadly it is out of stock , i contacted them in case they restock
I've seen another one on this site which look "weird" but beautiful in the same time : https://www.overlord.fr/unites-airborne/3853-506th-parachute-infantry-regiment-101st-airborne-.html

I've also seen a guy on ebay doing leather patches, he is serbian and asking 60$, his job is very nice, i was going for cloth version as you suggested but i'm now in doubt

About doing art on a jacket, yes i'm interested but later, i really like painted jackets

And i was wondering, to sew the patch, should i have the lining removed or sewing leather+lining is the way to go?

Maybe you can get one from At the Front, https://www.atthefront.com/product-p/usid506pp.htm

I personally don't like the bullion one but that's a matter of taste/choice

Leather is also an option and there are some real fine artists but I would still go for a cloth version.

Sewing the patch(es) straight onto the jacket without removing the lining is the way to go.

Overlord has a merrowed edge which is a post war thing.
Didn't know about that, great to learn stuff

Thanks, great patch for sure, 30$ of shipping hurts o_O, but it is really good
And i'll have it sewed with lining ty

Thanks again for all these precious infos and links, now i just have to decide which patch to buy, i decided to pick cloth since you believe it is the best in my case

Edit : i have one more question, i will order the shoulder patch, not sure i'll apply it but if i decide to i'll have it
My question is which one is correct ?
I believe it is this one: https://www.atthefront.com/product-p/usid101st.htm , but i'm not 100% sure

It's all in the detail but there are very bad and cheap looking repros on the market. I guess that At the Front is selling a decent Screaming Eagle patch but there are many WW2 types.

Check Mark Bando on Trigger Time https://www.101airborneww2.com/eaglepatchcorner.html

Shipping from US is expensive. Will fit in padded envelope...

Great pages link! Mark Bando is the man who stared it all...

while we are on topic for airborne patches, does anyone have any experience of this 101st patch from ATF?

not sure if it is just a lazy photoshop job, but that chunk of brown fabric/threads between the top and bottom patch really bothers me, I am guessing it was cut from a photo where the patch was also sewn onto the jacket, but whoever did it didn't bother to remove the middle brown/OD part?

Found a seller on ebay located in Germany and selling the same patch, the brown piece is there : https://www.ebay.fr/itm/U-S-Reprodu...885542?hash=item364c08e5e6:g:DXcAAOSwfYBcuviD

And thanks to you i realised they are doing a sale so i placed my order, saved me 15$, half of the shipping

thx for that wiLLz, now the question is, is that brown piece between the top and bottom period correct? (I guess I can't complain too much over $5 :))
