Mall jackets, you know YOU have one...

You know you have one. Let's see yours & hear its story.

After buying my first A-2, a russet goatskin Avirex, I wanted a black one. The only one I could find is this Avirex I bought in the mid 90's at the Sharper Image store.

It was based on Avirex's "50 Mission" model ( w/ handwarmer pockets), made with a fuller cut (S,M,L sizing- this one's a M) out of very soft distressed lamb.

Although not historically correct (with the corresponding slim, athletic fit), this one is both comfortable & more practical. It's roomy enough to layer a sweater underneath and the inside lining & handwarmer pockets come in very handy.

With the proper attire, it is dressy enough for a night out, without making you look like you just stepped out of a B-17. I'm happy to have this jacket with A-2 lineage in my closet.

My "mall jacket" is a nice RRL sorta based on an N-1 Deck Jacket. It's an awesome piece, and as we've discussed here many times, most here have one or more that get just as much love as the expensive ones.
Similarly, I found my son an Avirex horsehide A-2 in NOS condition from 1978 a few years back. Only issue was some light fading on one shoulder from being in a shop window. It was a great jacket in every respect, so it was a bummer when he outgrew it.

Sorry Lads, must have missed this thread somehow. Yes, it's an old photo, and no, the 'tache has not returned, nor is it likely to. That phase has passed, popular though it was. Much preferring the streamlined look these days.

You can't throw a good moustache away like a Christmas puppy!
