Headwinds Mfg. Status?

Weird that with this going on, he apparently had time to cast aspersions towards another manufacturer - with a reputation for OUTSTANDING customer service - for making a custom jacket, at a customer's request, with passing similarity to a jacket he makes. Said manufacturer may make a "cheap knockoff version", but at least he communicates with the customer and makes the damn thing to their specs promptly once ordered.

I think, in spite of all the anger of the concerned persons, it is not expedient to hit someone without knowing the exact situation. Making the facts transparent to warn future buyers is, of course, fine.
In certain situations, some people tend to act irrationally and then things like that come out. Of course, this is not an excuse for behavior, but a call to be reasonable in responding to it.
Let us stay human and hope that it will go well for the concerned.

I also hope this gets resolved.
I have had pretty good dealings with Headwind in the past, but this does not sit right.

I would say try being on of the “concerned persons”. Being diddled out of a considerable sum of money is good reason both to vent and to warn others.

Especially when the facts are clearly stated.

For the record, are you on the Headwind waiting list or have you received a jacket from them ? Trying to gauge your interest.

Thanks

No, no, I have no cards at all here. I just wanted to point out that the situation was clearly presented and everyone can get an idea.
I fully understand the one who may have sunk $ 600 and is pissed off accordingly. I wouldn't be any different.
However, readers (not concerned persons) of this thread shouldn't be staging a "witch hunt".

By the way, I am the one who is believed to have stolen the details of the Aviatrix jacket.

For those who may think that this is a ‘Witch Hunt’ please note that I have been an ardent supporter of Headwind Leather Co and it’s owner right up to this point in time. You have to go no further than the beginning of this thread, which I did not start, and review it in it’s entirety to confirm this statement.

I didn't want to insinuate anything on you or question your own actions. I think you behaved correctly and showed the situation objectively. You are a concerned person and so your anger is understandable.
If there is a misunderstanding here, it is most likely due to my poor English and I apologize for it.

Got to be an explanation. This is just vendor suicide (pardon the expression) if true. True meaning intentional in this case.
Ironically, it seems like there is a lot of that going on. Goodwear on the 2-4 year backlog with little to no communication, Diamond Dave and the seesaw going out if business and working all the time rant, and now Headwind.

I find it all so very odd--none point to a sustainable business model.

FWIW, I might have come across pretty strong yesterday evening but that's because I know Burt and he's a stand up bloke and no bullshit artist. He's not a fussy, difficult chap either. The fact that he's apparently also been banned by Headwind from purchasing from them again all because he started trying to either get his jacket or his money back after waiting nearly 6 months on a wait that was quoted to be 4 to 6 weeks just added to the injustice of this.

It's obvious that there's been a serious cock up on the Headwind end and the best thing they could have done was own this from the start - admit it, and do what they can to rectify it one way or the other. To let it go on this long and then unjustly ban him because of their own mistakes is beyond the pale.

Lots of us around here have stood up for Jay and Headwind when they've copped flak in the past and I particularly remember a lot of guys standing up for them when they took a few below the belt hits from another maker a couple of years back.

All of this adds to why some of us are mad as well. We know Burt, he's a mate and a good, honest bloke and we're annoyed to see him treated this way as well.

I hope Jay and Headwind are man enough and have the guts to stand up admit what's gone on and do what they can to, at least at this very advanced stage, make at least amends. An unconditional apology wouldn't be a bad place to start.

All the tumult in the jacket world over the years is hard to navigate. I see both sides of these issues and really, I think people under duress act differently than they normally do - for sure I do.
It's truly a dog eat dog world, and I don't envy anyone trying to make a go of garment making. I've see friends and guys here and even my own son struggle with it all - most of which are indeed one-man operations.

It makes me sad more than anything. Like thinking about the day I came home from school and mom said to me and my little brother - "your Dad's not coming back, he's moved out".
Boom. No one thing por person to blame, but lots of hard feelings to follow.

I wish everyone a good outcome here. But I more so hope that we all can work things out and still be friends...
