He is 1/2 of the "Myth Busters" from the discovery channel.

He is 1/2 of the ORIGINAL 'Myth Busters", I think he is a special effect guy for TVs and movies turned presenter. I like their approaches to debunk the myths scientifically, well, sort of. definitely better than Top Gear IMHO.

If I may throw in my $0.02 worth...I have one of the Luna Replicas jackets and I can say I'm extremely pleased with it. No, it's not the original cotton poplin, but since I don't fly anymore, I don't care. It may or may not have the correct number of stitches, the exact cut, yadda yadda. But it's "almost " there...maybe even "all the way" there. Who am I to criticize? Before these and those few jackets Al Worden was hawking, there were NO Apollo-era repros out there. Space Camp sold a few monstrosities that were based on the Gibson & Barnes "Classic" jacket, but were hardly repros of the Flite Wear. Just remember, the original jackets were just like the original A-2s: all hand made, several different manufacturers, changes in material over ten or fifteen years, and thus no two of them were exactly alike, and there were dfferences in every contract run. My advice is that you guys jump on these while you can, before ELC decides to crank them out at $2000 USD apiece. After all, if these repros are good enough for a die-hard space geek like me...

On my way from the Frankfurt area to my work station on the North Coast. Grabbing a coffee at a friend's from the federal po-leeze EMS service. His 4th alarm today had already gone off a second ago. This picture plus 2 minutes 10 seconds he was airborne on an EMS tasking low level through FRAPORT control zone. I was left with a coffee and 500 km to go. I got to be first responder at an autobahn crash in heavy rain (no casualties) after grabbing another coffee at an ex-Navy friend's ADAC EMS station at Münster-Osbabrück airport 2 1/2 hours later. We talked Carl Sagan for an hour (he is more space crazy than myself). Not too shabby for a long Sunday journey in a NASA jacket I thought. I chose a size 44 but it'll keep me on the toes training and watching calorie intake. Turning 50 exactly on Apollo 13's day of launch doesn't seem to make it easier. Go Brownshoes!

Herk, it is said Lunareplica jacket. Btw regarding the ordered mustard version I have received 20 USD back as there apparently were savings in the production. You should have also recieved the rebate. A nice Feature LR, I thought. You might refer to their facebook page for info in that. Cheers.

Yeah, funny, I got a $20 USD refund the same day you did. Pleasant surprise.

How's the sizing on the LR models? The size charts on their web site suggest they run way big. A 50" chest for a size 42 jacket is really big.

Negative. The sizing is exactly as it should be, not too big and not too small. I ordered a 46 and and it fits perfectly, just as a 46 should fit me, with a little extra room and the proper anount of blousing. If I were you, I'd order whatever size you would normally take in a modern jacket. That sizing chart is was too confusing anyway. But just in case, ask what their return policy is.

Sizing of this sort of jacket is not like a leather jacket. They will seem bigger by numbers but it's due to the cut and the way they fit. I have confidence in the numbers above that if you follow the instructions, you'll be fine.
I am getting the gold version up now. I don't know how I'll look in it but I have so much blue gear that I thought I'd go for something different...

Hey everyone, Max from Luna Replicas here. Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I can answer questions about authenticity, the history of these, what we're currently making and what's planned for the future. We're a small operation in Philadelphia with a contracted sewing shop in Los Angeles, proudly making replica Mercury through Skylap NASA gear in the U.S.A.

To address the post a few months ago comparing our Type 2 jacket vs. Jim Lovell's Type 1 original: these are two different jackets. From what we can find there are at least 4 versions of blue NASA jackets made by Land Manufacturing, 3 of which we currently make ( Type 1 (Gemini-Early Apollo), Type 2 (later Apollo), and Type 1A (intermediate version of both designs). There were also fleece-lined and nylon-shelled winter weight versions of the blue jacket, which we're thinking of making. We had direct access to 3 original jackets of 2 different versions (Type 1 winter weight, and Type 2 standard).

We are also in the process of making the final version of the Apollo flight jacket, the mustard gold Type 3 jacket, originally made by Kings Point. All of these are discussed on each product page and I recently did a Facebook live video about the differences as well.

Also, we've been moving pretty quickly so I haven't had time to get the quality photos I'd like of our jackets and flight suits on the website, so that may be my first post-quarantine project. The Type 1 jacket (like Jim Lovell's) is the only one I had a chance to really do a photoshoot with (https://lunareplicas.com/collections/frontpage/products/flite-wear-type-1-nasa-flight-jackets) . You can see this matches your reference photo closer.

Please feel free to discuss here, too, I love talking about this stuff!

All the best,

-Max
