I've always wondered where that stereotype of “oot and about” originated because I've never heard anyone in Canada pronounce it that way.... not even Newfies. LOL
I know, i figure it came from a CBC radio comedy character exaggerating the Newfoundland accent
Then just took on a life of its own, like where’s the beef, we’re gonna need a bigger boat , spider sense is tingling

Managed some time this afternoon in the ELC Star once I'd ditched the suit jacket

Beautiful jacket and great weather allows you to wear it. I love my Star so much that I can’t wait for the warm weather to wear it again. And I miss this jacket long winter and sometime take out from closet to touch it and feel this nice smell of leather.

Shot up to +5 today so that half a foot of snow turned into a soggy mess over the entire place. Was windy again too which didn't help. Gumboots/wellies and the Irvin were the order of the day.

More ELC Star Sportswear time today. Still new, still stiff but still loving' it !

A bit chilly at the wartime home of 447th Bombardment Group. Sorry about the shades ...View attachment 31559

That really is looking damn nice. Once you beat the bastard into submission and the stiffness goes - especially in the bottom and side torso area - and it starts draping nicely and softly there it's going to look the mutt's nuts as the kids would say. Cracking jacket and the fit looks great, enough room to stuff a jumper on under there if you need to.

It's a good excuse to lay off the pies!

On my monitor the colour is lovely, really rich, I'd be very happy with it. One other thing I forgot to mention in my last post, I'd mangle the collar a bit too if it was me. I don't like them too sticky-out-straight but that's just me.

Thanks chaps ... I agree about giving the collar a proper work out. Any suggestions?

I tend to scrunch my collars so they fold and develop some curvature half way down from the top of where it folds over if that makes sense. Lots of fellows use HWT but I've never found it necessary, I just scrunch it with both hands either side of the collar when I put the jacket on and a couple of times once it's on when I'm wearing it for the first week or two of wearing it. After that it does its thing.

Bear in mind though that I'm not one of those chaps who lays my jackets down nicely - especially A-2s - I throw them in a heap as in my experience it helps them develop wear and creasing like originals. For example at the moment, both of mine are lying however they were thrown down under a heap of other coats and jackets on top of a ships chest. I have no idea, arms could be folded up funny, they could be half open, whatever. But I like them that way, when I get them out, put them on, and they relax a bit, they look a million times better and closer to wartime jackets than those ones, people lie down gently with the arms all neatly laid out or on padded hangers.
