My new original Irwin

I received a nice original Irwin today. Thanks to @Pilot for a very smooth and pleasant transaction!! My faith in buying on VLJ has been restored! With an original A-2 and now an original shearling, I feel like I don't need any more jackets.... well, maybe after I get a nice D-1 :) Here's a couple of pictures. Hoping for no rain tomorrow so I can wear it to work.

Love the size of it. Fits you the way it should just a shade big, but look at period photos and you’ll see that you have a good fit.
Cheers

That Irvin looks great! The cuffs look very fluffy, way more so than on any repro I have seen so far... :)
It's had some work done to it, some holes were patched and both cuffs have been restored (and one of them is very fluffy - I may decide to trim it a bit). Looks like the collar has been replaced as well, the shearling of the inside of the jacket and sleeves is fluffier and longer than any of my repros (actually looks quite a bit like Devon Fleece as shown on ELC site). I don't mind that it's been restored, it was cheaper than one in mint condition and it definitely has some amazing patina. Best of all though is the fact that it's wearable.

It's a great looking Irvin you have there...I love mine and consider it to be superior to the B-3 in terms of wearability and thermal insulation...
I always liked the B-3 better, probably because it's the one jacket mostly seen in movies, etc., but I have to say that the Irvin is a better design and feels better as well.

I agree, very happy with it, and even though it is a bit big, it certainly doesn't feel big. Actually my much trimmer B-3 feels bulkier than the Irvin.

Thanks everyone for nice comments! Here's a couple more pictures. I trimmed one of the sleeves and re-inforced a couple of the repairs. It will stay on display most of the time, but I'll enjoy wearing it from time to time when the weather is right.

Looks good! I have on similar in size 6...still has the escape whistle and the elastic behind the collar. Super warm jackets!
