This looks like Sheep Skin. I don't see any of the characteristics of genuine Capeskin.

From my experience, it would be nearly impossible to make a Genuine Capeskin jacket at this low price. It is not a cheap hide to buy, and is very difficult to source.

1. I'm not only a vendor I'm a collector and I have been a member here for around 8 years, long before I was a jacket maker.

2. This is false advertising and some who pass through here may not know that this "Capeskin" is not genuine. I think we owe it to them to call this out.

3. I am not saying anything about the jackets that I make. This is not about sales or an agenda. Just call apples, apples. Don't misrepresent the hide to try and sell jackets.

You have a business which sells jackets. That would be considered being a supplier or vendor on most forums where jackets are a part of the forum's premise except here (try it on the Fedora Lounge for example). IMO, you and ALL other vendors / suppliers here should pay to advertise, and be subject to ethics / rules, but it's not my call. That was a screenshot of an eBay listing from 5-Star, not here (EDIT: One which is used on eBay by 5-Star, not here). If you have an issue regarding any misrepresentation, take it up with eBay, or privately with Shawn. AFAIK, Shawn makes it perfectly clear to forum members exactly which hide they will receive (The case with 5 jackets I purchased through him).

You are most certainly on a sales agenda in many cases in various threads regarding other suppliers / vendors wares IMO.. Being in the business of selling leather jackets on this forum certainly can give that interpretation at the very least..

Example: Like when you tried to insinuate that Platon's jackets were made in some 3rd world country in another thread, even after it was pointed out they were thought to be made in Greece. It turned out that the info was on Platon's site the entire time, and his jackets are indeed made in Greece... I could find other examples and quote them if I wanted to..

I absolutely agree with that.
Shawn is incredibly customer-oriented, answers every stupid question and makes transparent what you get and what you don't.
Absolutely exemplary.
I once read about the Capeskin that this used to come from a goat from the Cap of Good Hope, but nowadays it is rather a very soft lamb leather. I think this term is not protected and can and will be interpreted.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion technonut, I respect that. Others that know me well know different. Including other jacket makers which I work with on occasion.

I will not comment further on on this beyond this post. Capeskin can be confusing and this jacket would fall under the modern definition of Capeskin that includes sheep, lamb, and kid skin.

I was saying here back in 2018 when there was a lot of hoofluff going on about another maker, that it would be good to have rules for vendors here and still stand by that. It never looks good, no matter what the reason, when it appears a vendor is criticising another vendor and their products publicly and especially in thread directly about the other maker.

All of the Buyer Questions are most important for us, We never regret to answer any of the questions from the buyers, sometimes we sell one jacket after exchanging more than one hundred emails with a single buyer.

Even many times we send all of our leather samples swatches to many single jacket buyers, They choose the leather of their choice than buy a jacket, If anyone can go to that level of transparency with buyers than I think we hide nothing, We are 100% clear with the products and services we are offering, even we post every details Our Tanning Facility, and factory environments etc in this forum before.

We also never post the harsh words or any words which hurts the reputation of other suppliers in the market. We are just contributing to this forum and all vintage jacket lovers, even we are the one who offers the discounts to all VLJ Members just to promote this platform for a good cause.

At the end I apologize if any of my words hurts someone.

Kind Regards

Shawn
