same here on my Star sportswear but only on the left cuff at the top edge... possibly due to rubbing against the edge of my watch all day. a shame. I shored it up a bit with some clever sowing but new wear and holes have begun around it. :( I wish this could be a user serviceable part as I would replace it myself but don't know that I could successfully pull it off.

All the recent ELC knits are real crap...older ones were much better and more WW2 like...
Anyway:
Try these...not bad.
The Co. selling them are very customer friendly. They also speak english.
If you need help, please revert.
I have an excellent leather tailor in France who can fix it as well.
Please feel free to revert if help is needed

I‘ve been wondering about these vs MASH knits.

WOW OK so I have an ELC G-1 on order and I have heard what people here have said about the knits. For such an expensive jacket and considering you have only a few months use on it this is shocking!!!

this has been a common complaint about ELC for some time now. not sure what the deal is with ELC knits but they tend to wear out fast. my right knit and waistband are still fine but the left where I tend to wear a watch is getting holes. having said that my ELC Roughwear doesn't have any issues.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my ELC G1, but not the cuff knits...

MASH. I've tried a few options. Those from Larry on Ebay are ok, but depends on the batch. Recently received a set from MASH that are pretty good.
I would say first point of call is to contact ELC, but you will pay! I know, cause I just got a quote for some replacement bits for a secondhand B-10 I was considering. Hell no!
In the UK, contact Donna for a really good job, used to work for Cirrus UK.
Donna Howard https://www.hill4leather.com/
And... http://www.bysonleather.co.uk Also does an decent job.
One consideration, with cuffs would be the same, but the earlier G-1 had the single ply waist knit, but this is not very strong and wears out rather quickly. If you don't mind the authenticity issue, have a doubly ply waistband like that on later G-1s and A-2s. Will last that much longer.

One of the more common questions this, if you do a forum search you'll see this is discussed pretty regularly.

MASH knits are good, Larry's [flightjacketknits] on ebay are pretty good too but can be a tad variable. If the jacket is not that old you can send the jacket back to ELC Gary may replace the cuffs and of course they can be replaced if you pay but be mindful the cuffs you will get back will be likely wear in the same manner.

Lots of places will replace knits including Byson Leather - click here. If you are handy and have a decent walking foot sewing machine it is possible to DIY - there are how to's on this forum.

Is it worth replacing the standard ELC ones with MASH when you get the jacket?
For me at anytime...Would have hated it, seeing parts of the knits of my ELC falling apart during a two or three weeks business trip....I never kept my few ELC’s with knits long enough to allow this happen...or re- sold the jacket right away because I did not like it.

Beyond the fact that they fall apart quickly, the ELC knits also just don't look right. Yes there are some jackets where the knits have reached that point of just being a short tube of knitted wool, but that's after a LOT of wear. A-2 Jackets shouldn't look like that out of the gate.
