My bad, sorry, thought we are discussing the Dubow 27798, with the pointed collar tips.

I am... Here's the collar comparison pic:

More here:

EDIT: Buried earlier in this thread, here's the the disassembled jacket which Platon used to pattern from. Just like the originals of this quite large contract, there will of course be some slight variations between jackets when made:

The Dubow 1755 is basically the same pattern as the 27798 and is just as well known for it's pointy collars, but there is variation in the shape.

Reproduction Dubows do look good with pointed collar tios.

Originals, even of the same contract often have variations. WW2 production was not as tempered or exacting as the top repro makers today are. Your high-end repro would often be more perfect and well-built than a WW2 jacket.
Ive seen an original Dubow 1755 with a weird offset collar and a few originals with pocket flaps apearing different on either side... Regs repros - My first GW No Name circa 2008 had a loopy collar, it was falling off to one side. This could have been a 'mistake' or could have been John making it exactly like an original he was copying. Also had an Aero Bronco circa 2005 that had the collar dropping off to one side, quite noticeably. Guess its all relative.

Well, I didn't hijack the thread about pocket spacing. However,it certainly is very clear from the disassembled Dubow that the spacing is on mark. Please understandmy comment was not meant to belittle changling's purchase, as it is as beautiful a jacket that anyone
could expect. Anyone would be proud to own it.

If you look closely at the collar in this pic, you'll see the subtle curves on both sides of the collar point that distinguishes this contract. There are straighter examples, but this trait is found on most. Platon does not get it right as others make the same mistake. GW is the only maker who has mastered this trait.

Actually, if you look at the first pic in the original thread, you can see that Platon's Dubow collar is exact, and is curved. Platon is aware of the curve. I know when I ordered mine, I specifically asked if it were possible to keep it more straight as per another example off an original 27798 I was referencing, as I preferred it. Still has a bit of a curve... Cant speak about the jackets other have received.
I know Andy is also very aware of this curve. When I ordered my Dubow from BK, we discussed this aspect also. So yes, this is a very common Dubow trait. However, there are Dubows with more or less curve.

Sorry if I chime in here...Saucerfiend and others are totally right...the collar is still not as per originals......I have two of these original contracts ...one russet one seal......and with all due respect...far away...( not only the collar but a few others...) IMHO the shown comparison should be .. the repro on top( we discuss the repro not the original...) the original underneath or next to it...not the way its shown,...where none can actually really compare with facts...not transparent...IMHO.
Furthermore...we discussed the reinforcement pocket snaps on this Dubow contact...happy to see if considered...again with all due respect of considering authenticity...no bad blooded criticism.
Plus...the hides shown are great and stunning...the craftsmanship looks excellent...but is it goat or horsehide?...apologies if I ask this...my G-1 from the 60 ies has precisely this seal structure and grain...
Again, very nicely made, great craftsmanship....just asking.

Not at all ;)
That pic at the top is quite exaggerated though. I guess it depends which original jacket you are comparing with.
Look at these...
First pic clearly shows a curve.
The original does have a slightly more pointed tip, but its really not far off.

Look at this original 27789 below, the curve is not as noticeable, and the lobe is as round as Platon's Dubow....

OK agree..
Thx for sharing.
Just out of curiosity, is the earlier discussed pocket reinforcement there?
Are those repros ( very well made for sure) HH or goat...?
My two HH Dubow’s ( and your shared photos) look different from the texture and character of hide.
The seen texture is very nice , sure but looks like my grainy goat G-1.
Sorry no offence...just curious.
Not important for me but just asking...

From Platon's site:

We use Italian leathers of the highest quality. Our horsehide is the successful outcome of extensive research and development that we have undertaken to replicate period horsehide exactly. All the other materials that are used in our jackets are made in USA and Japan. Our jackets are proudly made in Athens, Hellas.

We use high quality Italian front quarter horsehide, the exact same kind as the one widely known in the market as "Vicenza horsehide" and from the same supplier. We call our variety “Class 13 horsehide” and we custom made it to be an exact match to wartime horsehide. It has the same weight, thickness, color, texture, feel, hand and durability with originals. If you are tired by reproduction jackets that have all the details right but the leather looks nothing like the originals, you just found salvation. Jackets made with our Class 13 horsehide will be clones of originals. Our horsehide is especially processed so that its top coating will fade with time and wear allowing the lighter shade of the leather underneath to show through. This guarantees that your jacket will age in exactly the same way as the originals.

I am away from my Dubow at the moment, so cant say. To be honest, I never did check that. I certainly will when I get to it and will post here. In the men time, maybe others who have these can check.
I'm interested to know also.
These are made from Italian horsehide.
I must say, I did have a little giggle. We do take these details so seriously, and it's totally fine. But looking at this thread again, as far as high end A-2 repros go, this 'jacket' is only 450 Euros. Blows my mind.

Thx...after re-reading my questions I find myself as an embarrassment . Sorry about that.

Ordering a 42 as it is still a stellar jacket for the price.
I will be travelling to EU and then Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in Feb.2020. Maybe we can coordinate the jacket to arrive in France or Germany, just in time so I can handcarry it....just a thought.
