5th AAF WW2 patch

I don't know that the Australian made 5th AF patches I've seen have had that black fabric backing... whereas I believe a number of fake embroidered patches out of Asia do. Plus that patch looks very, very new... nary a moth nip to be seen. Caveat emptor.

It's not black - seller description: Navy blue on felt/wool. I think it's may be due photo effect : dark blue looks like black.

I saw photos of many of these patches and the color ranged from blue to very dark navy, almost ink colour. They probably used the felt that they had for making the patch, the main thing is that it be blue.

The patch on this original jacket also looks new, although it managed to fly with this jacket 70 years ago.

I hope seller listed the original, but...if it is a copy it looks exactly like the original.

Sorry, I meant the cloth covering the back of the patch. All the other Aussie made patches I've seen either have no backing, or maybe a light white cloth. None have had the back completely covered with black cloth.

FWIW, I'm no expert, I just would hate to see a fellow enthusiast get taken.
