Star Sportswear A-2 - found at the Goodwill outlet bins

Well the jacket obviously found it’s way to the right person. Someone who respects it and appreciates it and will take care of it… And even very carefully actually wear it and understand what it is! Can you imagine if some snot nose kid came across to it but had no idea what it was and didn’t appreciate it? I’m glad to hear that you will wear it a few times a year because after all it is a jacket! It would be like buying a vintage car and never driving it and leaving it in the garage… Not quite so much fun! LOL! Just be careful of sharp corners! Lol! Thanks so much for finding this site and sharing it with us!

Funny you should tag me. Just finished a few fit pics. Didn't get more closeups because the wife was like "stop playing dress up, I wanna go to bed". Lol!

I think it looks presentable, but it's too big from a proper fit standpoint.

It's a bit blousy because the leather is a bit too stiff to drape.

More relaxed fit:
Taylor Stitch democratic selvedge
Dickies 1922 chambray shirt
Wolverine 1000 mile USA boots
Old USA made Eddie Bauer belt (no idea why I'm wearing a brown belt with black shoes haha!

Slimmer fit:
APC selvedge jeans
Same shirt
Same belt
Edward Green Dover shoes

Thanks man!

I think it'll work best with a more "dude look" being its technically too big for me. So like vintage wool Pendleton shirts and the like.

The light russet color is a challenging color to match shoes with. Of all the crap I've thrifted, still looking for some russet Alden Indys. Those would work great! I do have some Alden 1340 shell Chukkas... But super shiny black.

I thrifted everything in those photos. The EG Dovers were a crazy find! There's really no talent to finding this stuff. Just stubborn persistence. Well, you have to know what to look for. I'm sure you guys do as well.

I'll take some more closeups of the jacket later. I'm not gonna wear it again until I get the knits patched up.

You’ve gotten feedback by some of the most knowledgeable people owning , maintaining and restoring vintage leather jackets in the world. (Ok I had to throw the world part in for dramatic effect;)) But we are an International Forum and you did get some outstanding feedback sooooo.... the ball is in your court. ( actually the jacket is in your closet would have been a better metaphor) so what’s your plan Grass Hoppa??
Dramatically spoken in the old carlsberg beer ads (probably)

I live in “antiques town” so no doubt my time rummaging through the goodwill would be a waste of time being if on the rare chance something like that did end up there an employee would no doubt grab it before it hit The shelves. Still, it makes me want to go check one out this coming weekend... lol!

The large cuff roll on the jeans has never been a 'thing' in Australia. For twenty years I have been puzzled by it. "Just buy a shorter pair of jeans"... ;)

Nor here, or at least with me. Turn ups in jeans worn for work in the great outdoors rapidly fill up with bits of countryside or whatever and this gets dumped over the bedroom floor when the clothing comes off or into the washing machine - both will incur the wrath of She Who Must Be Obeyed o_O;)

See if there's any thrifts within walking distance from your work. Or driving distance as well. Hit them on your lunch break. More productive than surfing the internet at your desk.

Trust me. You know more about clothes than the employees. And even so, they can't catch everything.

I found this jacket at a hot spot for "vintage heads"... In the San Francisco bay area. Hipster headquarters. It was still under a mountain of clothes.

I kept looking for more stuff after I found it. There were no carts left so I had it over my shoulder. One cat kept circling me, trying to see what the jacket was. I just smiled. Lol!

Also got a 70s brown Pendleton scarf, a 70s Woolrich shirt and some thorogood wellington boots (might all look good with the jacket). There was one Hanover wingtip. It had rolls in the leather like they were shell, but I wasn't positive. Regardless, I spent 20 minutes digging through bins looking for its mate. No luck. One shoe's not gonna work. Oh well...

For reference, here's two jackets that are more my size. The good thing is there's more room for interpretation with casual wear opposed to sport coats... Which either fit or they don't.

First pic is a Johnson leathers M-Jean. Second is what I think is a one off custom jacket for a long defunct San Francisco leather bar called the Ambush. Yeah, that kind of leather bar. Eh, it's just a leather jacket. I think it's horsehide, but not sure.

And no, I'm not a narcissist. This is all in the name of science. Haha!
