I wonder if Jimmy Stewart wore his original WWII issued A2 in his movies or did he wear a Hollywood wardrobe provided A2 jacket during movie filming.

Jimmy Stewart wore his original size 40 WW2 Roughwear 1401 for "You Gotta Stay Happy"... That jacket is now in the National Aviation Museum. Its a spectacular jacket. Stewart was assigned to the 703d Bombardment Squadron of the 445th Bomb Group, flying B-24s.

That’s interesting thanks for posting that. I knew that his jacket was located in the National Air Force Museum, I snapped a picture of it during my last visit . Here’s a close up for you Bretta.

Absolutely agree with you.
Although I’m sure a few would say that his sleeves were too short

He actually had a pretty distinguished war record. He flew B-24 Liberators out of Italy with the 15th Air Force and unlike a lot of the movie stars who served, but just showed up for photo shoots he was in the middle of many combat missions . He remained in the Air Force reserves until late into his life and attained the rank of Brigadier General.
