Agree..Yup had a lot of grey ones supplied by UN and USN....I remember...we spread those on allover Evac flights in C-130 and C-160 on the cargo bay floor to keep the sniper bullits concealed from the refugees and our own “body jeweleries” during takeoff and landings in/out bound Sarajevo ( landings with aid stuff and friends...& people).

Easy...these grey Flak jackets were supplied to all NATO troops for PPE...and in profusion to Airbornes...
We put those on the floor like a carpet layer to avoid sniper fire on our C-130 and C-160 when taking off or on short final in(out)of Sarajevo... One Italian C-160 if I remember correctly did not have a thick enough layer and got up in light and heat in the Cargo Bay with refugees and Medics, plus O2 tanks and other like disinfectants etc.. on board..a great snipers work of the bad guys below.
More details ? Feel free to consult the archives...I still have mine “ tatooed here and there”.

Same cut & materials, the first ones were made in that lovely 1950’s RAF blue/grey colour the same as the mk1 inner flying helmets and flying coveralls. I had one a few years ago but was offered silly money for it.

Any chance you might still have a photo of that one?
