$2,000 for a patched M-422 with provenance . I think the Pawn Stars may have paid top dollar for that one. They certainly didn’t steal it or get a great deal on it. I wonder what they sold it for ?

Funny how they all thought it was a P-47 group flying in the ETO. Uh, that's a Corsair in the picture and those are palm trees in the background and it says "Munda" under the photo. Their expert from the museum is also very wrong when he said it was a "naval air group". It's a USMC unit, so he's clueless about that. Sometimes they can be real idiots.

Oh, and it is a great jacket by the way.

That show is a fake, people there are all actors and don't actually work there.
I’ve actually been in the place . All of the people you see do work there . The filming
takes place 2 or 3 days a week. People bring their things in during the non filming days and depending on what they have, they may be told to come back on a filming day. In the meantime they research the item so they look knowledgeable about the item. They set up each sequence with the guy walking through the door like a movie scene. But they are actual people with things to sell. Whoever told you it was a fake with actors was incorrect.

Very interesting, thanks for the comment Burt. I saw a couple but with flight jacket for the first time. I also thought it was the actors :)

Theres a great book - Hell Hawks!: The Untold Story of the 465th Fighter Group by Robert F. Dorr
I was also waiting for someone to mention the Corsair and was so relieved when the old dodger turned up and set things straight ;)
Nice jacket.

Various collectors and dealers who been in the place. Are you sure they are not there doing rehearsals? The people like Rick might be a pawn dealer at one time but they are now actors paid by History Channel. The experts are real though.
The UK version of the show are all reality TV stars and they are registered with Star Now with fake CVs but have nothing to do with the premises they star in.

Hi Taikonaut
You are correct about being paid. Rick, his son, Ricks Dad, ( before he passed away) and even Chum Lee have all become wealthy with
lucrative contracts from the production companies filming the show and with endorsements , so from that prospective you could call them paid actors. On filming days the cameras are set up like a movie set and people are lined up outside of the store. A few people outside , mostly tourist, are let in to give the effect of people mulling around and then the director says action and a real person with a
unique item walks in and tells Rick or his son what he has for sale and shows it to them. The backstory of the item is filmed later after the deal was made or not made. It is acting in the sense that the show is cut and spliced like a movie
but that’s Reality TV. All I was saying is that the prople and the deals are real and if you go on their website you can find things for sale that they purchased on TV. By the way I’m not a fan of the series I just happened to be on vacation and I went there to look around and it was a filming day and I watched the whole process. I didn’t get in that day so so went back on a non filming day and got into the shop and saw Rick and his Dad there. The place is much smaller than it looks on TV. As for the UK show I don’t know anything about that.

The "old dodger" said it was a naval unit, so he didn't set everything straight (note the EGA on the patch denoting a USMC unit). He even admitted he looked up the information before he came down to the shop. The funny thing is that all the information they needed was written on the photograph and they didn't even need the "dodger" to come down to the shop.

I like the show only in that they show some really cool stuff most of the time, but they are clueless a lot of the time. My favorite is when the "old man" called a flight jacket a "hump jacket" because it had CBI patches on it.
