Nice one, Brett! The sleeves and shoulder fits perfectly, but I see what you mean by the extra room in the belly area, reminds me of the Monarch pattern. It's also quite long, but maybe if you wear it non-stop for a couple of months and break it in, the lengths will be spot on. It's a wonderful jacket, especially for the money!

I have a feeling that Brett's favourite pattern is a Bronco so other patterns have a tough act to follow!

Agree with others in that it does look a tad long but, for a Dubow, I think the collar shape is off! Sorry but Dubow's are well known for their pointy collar ends in the same way Perry's are short and rounded but judging by the pics, they just look a bit generic to me. If you lay the collar flat Dubow's have a slight inward curve on the bottom edge which that doesn't appear to have? As I say maybe it is the pics although doubt it but surely the reason for an 'original maker' repro is yes perhaps to suit your body shape but really isn't about the specific look/style of that maker?

Thanks Greg, agree... The body feels much like my old ELC Monarch (also Aero)... To be super pedantic, I will say that at 5'10, this jacket would fit someone 5'11 to 6ft perfectly.
So... to Dmitry... Yes, I may very well do! A lot will depend on the BK I receive. Pointless owning a number of jackets that one does not wear.
(I am definitely trying a new AVI Bronco when they appear on the scene).
Tim... Yes, I love my Bronco. For me, its such a classic, smart pattern. That said, a good trim RW is also so easy to wear. One is continually learning. As much as I love the Monarch, Dubow profiles, I feel that to be comfy, I need a pattern that sport slightly wider shoulders and a trim torso. Thats simply the pattern that will work best for me.
As for the collar, I also thought initially the same, but last night I looked at it closer and it does have that outward curve. When I take better pics, I will try show it.

Very, very true - well at least for me. I have two A-2s and if I wanted another one I'd flog one of them first. All my jackets are wearers now so I want them to develop patina and get beaten up. I couldn't do that with closets full of the things. I've changed though from some years back where I wanted dozens of jackets, and especially when it comes to flying jackets, I just want a handful that I can put the wear into.

Exactly my feeling. I know I've said it before, but I want to paint the back of one of them... likely an AVI Bronco... Maybe this Dubow. But has to be a good fit and a keeper.

Personally, I think that Platon did a great job on the pattern. All depends on the original(s) which were used. Especially using this original as an example (Both collar and pocket flap shape closely resembles my Platon Dubow, as well as the sleeves and overall cut):

Yes, I have also collected numerous pics of both original 1755s and 27798s and there seems to be some variation with details. Pocket flaps, that curvy collar, etc...
Same for other original jacket pics I've accumulated, Broncos, Roughwears etc...
Bottom line. Platon, like BK, ELC, GW etc used an original to make their patterns from, so this is arguably as close to an original (at least the one they have) as you will find today...
For the price, and what you are getting... Its hard to beat.

Considering the speed these were knocked out at, one couldn't expect anything else.
Even with today's careful shaping of pocket flaps and collar points the leather thickness and density of the edges of the pieces makes it near on impossible to replicate each and every jacket to the precision that stitch counters and digit calliper owners expect these days.
Slighty of subject but Julie claims she can ID the actual machinist who has made any Aero jacket just by examining the detailing and technique of the work

The last Dubow John Chapman made for me was a 23379 contract. I asked him to make the collar with the longer points, but, to cut down on the curve. This, IMO looks cleaner and dressier when the collar is unsnapped and flat. Included for comparison is a pic of a 27798 that John made for me a while back. See what you think.

For me it ranged from same day to several days but my comms were via Ebay as I purchased the jacket via there.
