Bronson B-15A, 1st Look

As Dmitry says...
Personally, I would not wear a jacket with patch holes that were visible.... You could find a better patch to replace.
Or take the chance and wait for new stock. They have to make a version without patches (perhaps not ;) ).
I guess theres always buying it, removing or replacing the patch... and then IF unmatched ones become available, buying one (you now know your size exactly) and then selling the patched on.
These are not Eastman prices, so even though it is cash, one can afford the small knocks for something that in the end, is a fantastic jacket for minimal costs.

Today carefully looked at pics in Bob Dong B-15 listing .
By the way, a serious disadvantage is the marking on the buttons. Looks like legacy of early Avirex...

Bronson is OK with this, the buttons are smooth as on the original.

It seems the manufacturers in China have been reading VLJ and have taken our suggestions to heart.
But - they are drawing the line at making larger sizes!!!

Dmitri,
I am considering buying a Bronson B-15A.

Did you make the replacement puller or buy it from someone?

Regards,
Don

Hi Don,
I made it myself after studying the photos of the original jackets.
After several attempts, I managed to do what I needed. And after my tailor stitched it - exactly copied the size and shape pitch of stitches (I combined this with a patch sewing visit).

Having an issue with my Bronson B-15A... the smell.
It has a very strong musky, chemical, moth-ball type thing going on - this is the lining, shell and collar is fine.
My partner has threatened all sort of nasty things lol, she's right though, I had it lay over the sofa for a day and the sofa now smells.
Anyone else had this?

Brett,

turn the jacket inside out and hang it outside whenever possible... I use some additional Febreze on my jackets, when they were in the basement closet for too long....the fresh air seems to take the stink and the Febreze out...

Thanks Ties, that's a good call.
Unfortunately here in London, its pretty groggy outside, wet & damp.
The jackets back in the bag for 'safety' reasons ;)
I am getting a quote to Ozone it... and also possibly re-line.

Yes, tricky here. We are in a small apartment, so something like this becomes a thing....

Ooops, yeah...that complicates it....usually an airy balcony is all the magic needed....

Another thing that has worked for some of us: Small bags of ground coffee....coffee or tea filters with coffee in it....seems to bind the smell as well...

Brett, my Bronson B-15A didn't smell when I got it. However, I washed it. You can easily wash it in the machine at 30 C mode with minimum spin (I set 400) with any liquid detergent. It will looks better after, and the smell will disappear at the same time.

Does it smell like napthalene (the old style moth ball)? I was ready to pull the trigger on a wool lined N-1 when I read your post; however, due to medical reasons inhaling napthalene is dangerous for me.

I honestly don't know about Napthalene... But it is quite a strong smell, not natural.
My Bronson B-10 did not have any odours at all.

Tbh, these are super quality jackets for the price. Why not order one and if it smells return it, 30 day returns.
If there are no smells, you win, if there are... you lose a bit on postage.

You're right. Is the retour adress in China though?
