Since Red Wings are a little bit too narrow, I had to look for other boots, which I luckily found. Oak Street Bootmakers natural trench boots. The original square leather laces were replaced with cheap round laces, but I will replace these with paracord. The boots are two years old.

Went and tried on a pair of Iron Rangers today and they absolutely killed my arch. I love the look of them, but the pain isn't worth it. The search continues.

A different Iron Ranger experience here. I disregarded the advice about going a size smaller, bought my usual UK 8, fitted Red Wing insoles, and have a pair of the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, straight from the off.

I've given them one dressing of Red Wing mink oil in the 2 years I've had them. The main worry is the likely difficulty in getting them resoled or repaired in today's throwaway society.

I occasionally would look for vintage low quarter officer shoes on eBay and they never were my size or were pricey.... finally scored a size 10 minty pair with excellent leather and original laces. look to be rarely worn. Paid $150
These are the Fortune Style 6110 by Richland-Davidson Shoe Co., General Shoe Corp.
I found a 1944 advertisement as well. Not sure what year these shoes are but hopefully war era. These could easily be post war but they Look great with my Russet A-2 just the same. :)
