FIVESTAR LEATHER A1 JACKET

Gentlemen,

So here is the announced fit pic of the FiveStar A-1 I ordered for my Dad.
My Mom tried her best but obviously "Grumpy" was just in the mood for one good picture. I will try to get some more tomorrow...

a_1_grumpy.jpg

The size is a straight XL, with no altered measurements.
It is a tad too long for the correct military fit but just perfect for keeping those 71 year old kidneys warm and stay down while driving.
Same for the sleeve length: Perfect for riding the car. As the leather is still new, I would expect loosing an inch or two to permanent "tunneling" in the next months.

Best regards,

Ties

Guys,

Some more pics of the Fivestar A-1:
Just keep in mind, the model is 70+, likes his jackets roomy to wear a sweater as a layer. Fit seems to be OK to fulfill that purpose.

The jacket has been worn since last Monday and starts to show some nice structure.

Best regards,

Ties

Papa Ties likes his jackets the way I do - wearable 3 seasons!!
The color combination is tops - reminds me of my stout brown Blunnies.
(Imagine the jacket with a lighter brown thread, as here.)

You are a good son to hook your Father up with a nice A-1... :) It looks great on him.

The jacket I have made from the 1.2mm goat is breaking-in well with lot's of nice grain showing. Very durable as well. I rubbed a bit of the finish off from where it will not be noticed with some acetone, and was pleased to see a nice lighter brown peeking at me. :D As tempted as I am to artificially age it some, I'm going to allow the finish to wear naturally.. or at least try to..... ;)

Great work @Shawn Ali!

I think the numerical size label is meant to go side-by-side with the specification tag? It's meant to line up.

Do you have any plans to produce sheepskin jackets? B-3, D-1, Irvin?

would also be in for a D1

Seems like the most logical starting point for a sheepskin jacket - simple design, relatively few components or complex features (no bi-swing back, for instance).

I've actually been rather impressed with some of the more generic 'mall' brand sheepskin jackets you see in the wild made in Pakistan and India, and I can imagine a cheap repro D1 being a hit!

With the horn buttons, and now labels available, it's difficult for me to wait on some capeskin... ;) On the other hand, that 1.2mm goat has been making some nice A-1's from what I've seen.. The dark seal would be killer with contrasting thread used as well IMO... I have to stay strong though until I at least see how the capeskin looks. :p

D1, for example: quite a simple sheepskin design. If you were to make one of these I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Let me know if you want more images...

Hi Shawn,

I must say that I am really impressed how professionally fast you came up with a prototype for our request to have a better, and especially more military looking label. As before: Great service!

Best regards,

Ties
