Here’s an original Aero 42-15142P that I recently acquired from another forum member . I have included the data plate information from Gary Eastmans book “Type A2 Flight Jacket Identification Manual”
The date of this contract was March 28, 1942.
for 50,000 jackets at $8.25 per jacket. The total cost of the contract was $412,500.00 and was the 6th of 7 contracts granted to Aero Leather. The leather used was cowhide and not horsehide as previously thought. The jacket did not have a collar stand. The knits on this jacket have been replaced at some point. I hope you guys enjoy the posting. Fit pictures to follow.

Beautiful jacket in nearly perfect condition. Look newer than ELC's "TimeWorn" :) Looking forward to the fit pics!

Nice feeling (was/is to me anyway) having an original! My first was an Aero that was unfortunately too small but I bought it from Andrew/Roughwear so sold it on to Alan/Persimmon here and think he sold it on relatively soon thereafter - had some nice artwork name on top left front shoulder that was quite faded but deceranable being ' Stefanic' - anyone here claim to now have it? Since replaced by a Dubow that whilst has a name and number stamped in the lining I've not manages to trace any real history.

Measurements Aero 46
Shoulders 19 1/2 inches
Pits. 24 3/4 inches
Arms 26 1/4 inches
Back rear collar to bottom of waist knits 26 3/4 inches.

I'm glad to see these are vitually identical to our Aero 42-15142-P, should be considering we are using patterns taken from originals
I checked through a few previously sold 46"s, never more than 1/2" variation although all the pit to pit measurements on ours were 24 1/4"

I would think that the half inch difference on this one could probably be attributed to the stretching of the leather after all these years.

or measuring originals that had shrunk a bit. many, if not most originals that we come into contact today, have shrunk some. ya dun gud on that aero, as it looks to be quite wearable.
