Mouton Collar Replacment

I realize, the question has already been asked, but I’ve been unsuccessful at finding a replacment Mouton Collar on EBay and in thrift shops. I have a G-1 that’s in need of a new or used collar mouton rust in color.

Anyone have an old jacket they’re parting out or any recommendations on a mfg that offers something affordable and of quality?

Thanks much!

contact steve sellers or dave sheeley [both on the forum]. they both do top of the line work...as good, or for that matter, even better then any of the big repro makers, no bs.

The way to go is to buy a vintage Beaver Lamb Fur Coat on ebay, one long coat will yield around 10 collars
Search "Beaver Lamb Fur Coat"
That's what Aero used at the start for our USN jackets, so did John Chapman/Goodwear
You can make a nice profit selling on collar sized pieces on VLJ!!

For example

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-...c:g:WKMAAOSw1SJbeIRE:rk:6:pf:1&frcectupt=true

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fur-Coat...=item33f5e89080:g:J04AAOSwT5tWJkXg:rk:11:pf:0

You should find one in under a week for no more than £25...............£2.50 per collar

Steve Sellers did a brilliant job replacing the worn mouton on my original Burjac ANJ3a. He used vintage mouton that matched the original exactly! Excuse the ugly mug in the shot.

mine is a size 36

Never try to fit a properly cut pre fitted perfectly sized fur collar onto a leather back collar, you need to overcut the sheep size and trim after joining the two parts, the back collar almost automatically creates the perfect size for the fur so long as it's uppermost when the leather and sheep are joined

Old thread I know, but I followed Ken's advice above on collar replacement. I had to modify it a bit for the colonies as my search for "beaver lamb" yielded only UK returns. So I tried "mouton coat" and found a mouton jacket on the Bay. I just received it and it looks perfect, matches the honey rust of my Star 7823C exactly. I'm going to take it and my original issue Star 7823E (dynal collar) to a local leather pro who several of us have used and trust and see what he can do. Keep you posted on the results. Pre-replacement pictures attached.
