I ordered this patch from a great artist and nice chap in Serbia.
I ordered it since I saw a photo with two USAF pilots in their A-2 during the Korea war, adorned with this patch...
Cannot find this photo again... ( how dumb and silly)...Help!
Will have my tailor stitching it to my AN-6505-1 bag first...to get all the rough wear...remove it after it received its “original” patina... and then stitch it onto my recent GW 27752.
Thx for your help trying to find these photos with the original wearers.

That patch on the right is from the 7th Bomb Group. The design dates back to the 1930's. The fellow wearing the patch appears to have a different patch...note the shield's square shape and the scroll at the top rather than the cloud and bomb. The top center looks like it has bird....likely making this a version of the 11th Bomb Group (see their crest below)

These Group patches can be tricky to identify in pictures, because the center shields are from their officially approved unit crests, and those can have little details that sometimes don't show up...and sometimes some of the little details were dropped from their later patch designs....plus they often added scrolls.

The 7th was not really a Korean War unit. They were in existence until 1952 or so, but not in Korea. Most units were not wearing leather patches by then, most patches were embroidered. However, you often see photos of Korean War guys wearing their jackets from WW II...with their old unit's patch. The 11th BG wasn't KW either, being deactivated in 1948.

The art work is really outstanding on this new 7th BG....the only thing that is "wrong" is the Korea part...

Beautiful patches shedonwanna! Indian made?
don't recall the source for the leather patch. just thought it was interesting construction. appeared to be glued and lightly tacked with threads. the cloth patch was on the flying tigers antiques .

the guy in Serbia does nice work and very inexpensive. Does anyone have his contact email? I don't do eBay but might want to buy a patch from him if I don't have time to paint something myself????

The leather one is Indian made, but am not sure about pedigree of the other. Of note is the shield shape on both...they should have scalloped sides...one of those little missing details...
