Stretching your jacket up a size

Greg, I hope nothing happend with the Star A-2 after your Gliptone's usage, 'cause there's a lot of positive reviews about Gliptone on Amazon and I think you're right about that product.
Some contradictions are just about how similar its smell to the smell of good leather, and nothing about any harm to any leather over there.
I asked you about that warning of Gliptone's usage and aniline or semi-aniline leather, 'cause that warning looked quite strange to me.
Anyway, that warning I've seen on one site only (which I linked above).
Let's see what Rob from Eastman Leather Clothing will answer. Though it was possibly not very polite to ask him about an analog of their product)
That would be also very helpful to know what Ken at Aero Leather think about Gliptone GT11.
Ken, may you tell us your opinion about Gliptone GT11 please?

Here's a note from the ELC website:

NOTE: Pale aniline leathers may be slightly darkened by using Liquid Leather. We have done several tests and found that any darkening was hardly noticeable, if at all. But to be sure, one should try testing on a small out-of-sight area first.

So maybe Gliptone wanted to avoid all responsibility and strictly advised against using it on aniline, but ELC realized that it wasn't a real danger? We'll find out if Rob replies.

Hope you'll get ELC answer soon...ELC support very friendly. I once found out about them by the number of my jacket the exact date of its production and the name of lady-mashinist who made my Star.

It should be ok , our liquid leather product is probably more refined than Gliptone GT11. The only possible harm could be that the leather may feel a little tacky until it dries out.

So I'm gonna go ahead and buy some of that liquid leather, but phew, no harm done!

Greg, whatever you do...carefull with the cuffs...ELC cuffs are the most fragiles of all prime repro manufacturers.
That's right, Eastman's cuffs are quite weak.
Greg, that's fine that everithing related with Gliptone GT11 usage has ended up well finally.

Brice, I never had problems with cuffs and have no any tears on the cuffs of my ELC, despite the fact that I wore this jacket a lot this year... without worrying and often touching different items, for example in my car's trunk, and it's like new. I would not say that they are fragile.
Did you have a negative experience?

Hi Dmitry...
Thx. lucky you.
Yes only bad experience... I still have the replaced cuffs with the hole...guess its from the watch crown/pusher or bezel.
Plus, they look kind of crappy compared to the GW or MASH ones .
The jackets, hides, make etc all great...but the cuffs...no good...IMHO.

GW jackets are totally the best ones, incl. cuffs as well as all the other details)

But... Star Sportswear from Eastman is sooo nice, very like this contract!)
P.S. Also very like Eastman's Monarch A-2, just love it.
Agree, but its a different ligue...cuffs, studs ( ELC marked on the back...insread or United Carr etc...).
Nice anyway...agree.

Yep, that's right.
Your well used GW Dubow A-2 looks indistinguishable from same original WWII contract, it actually looks like very well preserved original Dubow A-2.

Look what the postman dropped off just now :) I'm not sure I should apply it right away, as it's only been 2 weeks since the gliptone treatment. Maybe in a few months. I measured the sleeves, the length still holds.

Greg, as far as I know - to apply this Eastman's conditioner just about once a year would be enough.
Or just occasionaly, for instance after some raining/drying cycles depending on the weather conditions.
Anyway, not too often.
The main idea - apply it very very gently. Leather shouldn't start being oversaturated with this conditioner,
use a piece of soft cloth which is a bit moistened with this conditioner to wipe the leather gently.
P.S. Wall calendar is nice)

Hey all! New to this site but found this thread -i bought a beautiful jacket recently that was the last one in stock but when I got it its seemingly a size too small.
In the back it doesn't fit properly ,
And doesn't close around the front.
It's so tight.
But it's so beautiful and I'd love to make it work for me- do y'all think I can stretch it ? Or is this only stretching old jackets ?
Thanks !

Almost all leather will stretch, up to a point. But if it's so small that you can't actually do it up then it isn't very likely that it will stretch enough.
