Original Patched Monarch A-2 Coming Soon

I will have an original patched Monarch A-2 in my collection soon that I just finalized with the son of the vet. I have only had one previously, so I am pretty excited.

I will of course be posting pictures as soon as it arrives.

From a vet with 63 missions in a B-26 Marauder. Known name on the B-26.com site.

Name is Max (Pete) Petrisek. Youngest command pilot in the airforce at the time. He is now 94 and still living I believe, lives in Pennsylvania. I talked to him on the phone once and he wanted his jacket back, but I said yes I would give it to him for what I paid at the time. But he got irate and said give it back for free. I mean he turned it in at the end of the war. So it's not his really anyhow. Property of US Government at the time.

Stunning jacket! The incised leather pieces are beautiful as is the squadron patch. Sorry to hear about the encounter with the vet, I've had some similar experiences myself. At least you reached out and gave it a shot!

I still feel guilty about it, but he turned it in at the end of the war and it was no longer his. But having said that, I only bought it for money, he paid for it with 63 missions, and a crew member killed etc. You can look him up on B-26.com. So I mean I'm not worthy of it. At the same time I can't give it to him for free it cost me some big bucks.

I understand but I don’t think you should feel badly about it. The fact that it was his jacket during the war doesn’t mean that he would have maintained it and kept it the way and in the beautiful condition it was maintained over the years. Who knows if years later he might not have given it away or worn it to destruction. I would have offered it to him at what I paid for it
and if he refused then so be it.

That's what I did. I offered it for the price I paid then. He refused and said put in a box and send it to me. I said with all due respect Sir, I cannot do that. As I had paid a significant amount for it. Although as I say it's "HIS" jacket. Absolutely. He won the war in that jacket. But he gave up possession and now I have it .....
