My latest G-1

I recently sold a Flight Apparel Industries G-1 replica, and with the proceeds, I bought a 1971 D series Star Sportswear G-1. It's goatskin, with a Dynal collar. The leather and lining is in terrific shape, with no holes or tears, and it's fits wonderfully. There is a small tear on one cuff, so I'll eventually replace both. For a 47-year-old jacket, I'm very pleased I got this vintage issued G-1 for $150. This is my sixth G-1, and I think it's bumped the '69 Martin Lane as my favorite.

Congrats on the jacket! It's a great fit and in such nice condition! Did you get it off ebay?

Yes, I sold my Flight Apparel Industries G-1 on eBay for $150, and used that money to get the Star Sportswear jacket. I thought it was a pretty good trade!

There’s a tutorial on how to measure a jacket someplace on this forum but I can never find it when I’m looking for it. It’s basically:
Lay the jacket out as flat as possible then measure
Arm pit seam to arm pit seam across the chest .
Then from the shoulder seam down the curve of the arm to the end of the knit cuff
Then flip the jack over and measure
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the top back of the shoulders.
Finally measure from the rear collar seam down the middle of the back to the bottom of the jacket.
That’s it!

OK, here are the measurements:

- Arm pit seam to arm pit seam across the chest: 19"

- Shoulder seam down the curve of the arm to the end of the knit cuff: 25"

- Shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the top back of the shoulders: 18"

- Rear collar seam down the middle of the back to the bottom of the jacket: 25"

The Star Sportswear factory where these and also many of the A-2 jackets were made is in Lynn Massachusetts, about six miles from my home. It is on Western Avenue just south of Chestnut Street. Whenever I drive by the building I always pause to think of how many wonderful jackets came through these doors.

The next time you happen to drive by please take a photo and post it .
