Nice jacket. I have one of those Goodwear Dubows (from a forum member), in a smaller size. But not £1500 of nice.

You could always try making an offer.

People are trying to cash in on the 3 or 4 year wait (or whatever it is now).

Too rich for me, that's what you call a bijou pile of rhino!

Sometimes time is more valuable than money. There may be someone out there willing to pay that price. I personally wouldn't but that's just me.

I don't know what's going on in the second-hand jackets' market these days. Original A-2s selling for US $ 20,000?? (I know that because of their historical importance, they don't come cheap, but US$ 20,000 is at least one order of magnitude above the price of most other originals on Ebay). Second-hand repros selling for more of the cost of new ones (like the GW on this thread)? Is this marking the start a new tendency in the market? Or just a weird spike, or an outlier data point in the market's history, just some people testing the waters to see how much they can get away with? If the former, it will mean that there are people out there willing to fork out stupid cash for an original or used repro, and that would be both crazy and drive prices up in general. If the later, the tendency will die out on its own. Let's see...

Yes, there is an American seller who has advertised at least five original A-2s for quite unrealistic prices. He may be testing the waters, but the water will be very cold and they are most unlikely to sell unless a new ill-informed collector decides to splash out! Here is the link to the $20k one.

Thanks for the link, Andrew. I saw those jackets a few days ago and could not quite believe that those prices were right. But the consistency on the price of the five or so jackets posted by the seller seemed to indicate that the prices were real and not an extra "0" added by mistake.

They are real prices. But will they sell at these prices? No. There is a guy in Japan who tries to sell A-2s at similar prices, but without success.

Probably the same seller in Japan who tries to sell original G-1s at around 10x the price of those available elsewhere? The jackets have been listed for ages an are still there, languishing on Ebay...

Have to say that's one nice example of JC's creativity and craftsmanship as is Pilot's jacket but it strikes me the seller is purely trying to cover the cost of a new one having shelled out initially for the wrong size!! Be interesting to see what he ultimately lets it go for.
