Looks like I'm joining the Cable club as well. I just picked up a new one on ebay, incidentally its the same one that was on the ELC re-issue depot a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to it.

Marcel, your daughter is right. I do look like a miserable sod so here's one for her with a big smile. This is the jacket after three weeks daily wear and showing the correct colour.

Gone, but not forgotten.
Big improvement, and that Cable is well on its way to being great.

Now, with Marcel's family over his shoulder, we'll just have to remember to watch the language.

My Cable arrived today, just two days from over the pond! Its awesome, a lovely shade of brown and fits well. The goat is stiffer than expected but it'll be fun breaking it in. The arms are a touch long but I expect they will shorten up with wear as they crease up. I emailed Gary as to why the jacket was previously in the re-issue depot, he said it was only because it was a long size, that the buyer never collected and as they dont stock long sizes, they wanted to get rid of it as quickly as possible. In all ways its a brand new, production Cable.

Hawkeye, I'm glad you are so pleased with it. What service did the seller use to get it to you so soon? My size 42 Cable is breaking in nicely now and is a very comfortable jacket to wear. I hope you will share some pics of you wearing yours.

My God Dave, do you think I've been wearing it with the winter we've had ! No way mate. It's been N-2B's all the way. I'm itching to get back into the Cable. Another few weeks and the temperature should have risen enough. Let's see pics of your Cable ASAP.

Well, mine's arrived. What a great jacket. My favourite out-of-the-box A-2 so far. Lovely colour, lovely hide and grain. And the best fit for my odd shape to boot.

Needless to say I've taken some photos (which I'll post as soon as I get time).

So what's the second thing I've done with it then ? Yep, a bit of hot water and now I'm wearing it to get some shape to it :D

It'll be a nice jacket for on my motorbike.

The zipper is fantastic too. Authentically fragile looking !

What size did you get Dave, and could you post dimensions please? Also, anyone got an ELC 48 who could give me the sleeve length?

Hi Andrew,
I got the 46" chest. I'll sort the dimensions etc out on Thursday as it's kinda late now and I'm out tomorrow evening. Leave it with me !

Has anyone got an Eastman cable raincoat co 23382 in a size 40 or a 42 reason being I’m may purchase one and I’m usually a 40 but do have a good wear which is a 42 . I tend to prefer a fitted style and just don’t want it to feel to roomy as it is a 42 ..nice one Art

Cheers Andrew. I don't think that will shrink the jacket though. I've heard mention of spin dryers etc. Can anyone elaborate ?

Depends on how big the jacket is. I've done the following three times and it worked beautifully every time, to a U.S. Authentic, a G&B, and an ELC RW 1401-P: Throw the thing in your washing machine, one cycle, cold water, gentle, no detergent. Remove. Lay the jacket on floor on a towel. Stuff the jacket full of towels (or in my case, every T-shirt I owned), zip up, and wrinkle it in the places you want the way you want. Shape the collar, pocket flaps, sleeves, etc., the way you want. Come back in three or four days when it's dry and you should be fine. They fit very well, still a little loose, but that's good for the future. Some people will suggest you start wearing it as soon as you pull it out of the washing machine and they may be right, but what I just described worked very well for me. All three of these jackets were at least two sizes too big, so I kind of had nothing to lose. Remember, though, you do this at your own risk!

I can't do that to this as it's been painted by Josh but from what I can gather the cable is more roomy on the arms and that's just the way it is I can layer under ythis one anyway

To be honest, it looks quite good just the way it is. I wouldn't do anything to it. How have the years treated it so far? I would imagine that by now the "accordioning" in the sleeves has set in, with the net result that they are shorter. From my monitor, that looks like a good fit overall.
