Hey everyone, I'm new here.
I've been in love with leather jackets ever since I was 10 years old, all due to Alex Krycek on The X-Files. I've owned 4 leather jackets in my life now, and 1 suede. All of those except the most recent were bought before 2007 for under $300. Is it safe for me to assume that the jackets have really gone up in price since then? Because it sure seems so. But my knowledge is limited. As far as I know, I don't remember seeing anything in stores back in the day for over $600. Now they can cost as much as $2000, or even more if you're going to go crazy.
My most recent jacket was purchased this past October for $415 Canadian. I've seen it selling on the Internet for about $300 USD. The store was selling it closer to $500 Canadian but I got it a bit cheaper since I was paying cash. Either that, or the cashier chick liked me, but probably the former.
I just feel like I cheaped out a bit on this jacket and that I should have been willing to spend more, which I could have. Granted, I couldn't be more happier with the jacket, and nothing really caught my eye more than this one. Actually, when I got home I realized just how close it is to some of the ones Nic Lea wore on The X-Files, so I'm very pleased. I get the feeling that most of you will tell me what matters is whether or not I'm happy. I do agree, but I'd really like some advice here. So I'll tell you a bit about the jacket and show some pics. (The pics do the jacket terrible justice, BTW).
The jacket is by a division of Shaf International "Leather King"... made in Pakistan. 5XL. I take it the Pakistan feature is why it was so cheap, but the jacket weights about 8 lbs and seems to be great quality. The stitching could be better, sure, and there's an inner zipper for winter lining which is a bit out of sync. Yes, the jacket even has winter lining which can be zipped out, and the lining even extends into the sleeves. It's a simpler looking jacket, yes, but I like them like that.
Please tell me what you think of it! Thanks!
