Need Help with Authenticity of Buzz Rickson B-15 Jacket

So I am wondering who faked it? What evidence did he give for it being a fake as opposed to an early BR jacket?
Gary said BR Japan thinks it's certainly a fake as BR would never use YKK as a zipper, and also that the quality doesn't meet Buzz standard.

Have to say the shape of the jacket and the fit pics just look wrong. Any BR or original jacket or any other high quality repro just looks totally different on any body shape. I wouldn’t be surprised if the knits aren’t wool either. And that patch looks very poor quality. The label screams fake copy.

BR originally built their reputation on the quality of their products, this sort of jacket would not have done it for them.

It maybe the seller wasn’t aware of what he was selling but I’d go back to them and have a conversation.

Thanks again for your input, stanier. Have started a conversation with the seller, who seemed also clueless as he said he bought it off a collector years ago. It's been a pricey mistake but I doubt I'll repeat it again.

I’ve just re-read the original post from nkang and it says the jacket is supposedly 8 years old, so 2010ish production.

I’ve had Buzz B-15’s from the early 2000’s (I think 2003 and was the first) and they were / are beautiful repros not like this at all.

Really sorry nkang for your experience on this. I hope you didn’t pay too much for this jacket.

I feel for you nkang. Incidentally, he can’t have bought it that many years ago if the jacket is supposedly 8 years old and had a prior owner. Best of luck with your next purchase and if in doubt ask here first. Cheers

Some updates:

Not only has the seller accused my intention but has demanded that I pay a good will in wasting his time. Before this, I had already offered, in kind gesture, to bear the shipping costs for full refund. Yet he kept demanding good will and tricking me into settling the dispute privately. He even said he could have just ignored me and never reply.

I tried and tried to see his perspective but PayPal kept saying what he proposed is bad. PayPal said that I should not settle privately but go through PayPal, which I will follow. Very saddened at such experience and his communication is becoming more demanding, which proves that y'all are right about this fishy transaction.

Peter is absolutely right, let PayPal sort it and even if they can’t, if you used a credit card behind the PayPal payment you might have further redress.

I really feel for you Nahua, there are some dispicable people out there with every dubious morals. Please feel free to contact me or the forum with any questions on future purchases. Just don’t let this happen again. Best of luck.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that the situation has worsened. Don’t be tempted to settle it privately. Let PayPal sort it out. What country was this jacket for sale in ?
Will definitely do so, Peter. The PayPal resolution staff members were helpful and very supportive. The jacket was available in UK.

I am positive that the seller knew what he did/did not have. To indicate that the item is a NWT Buzz Rickson jacket and then picture those Buzz Rickson tags as part of the listing is very bold statement. Then to place the tags so that buyers can not see the model number, retail price is deception. Any buyer could Google the BRXXXXX number and see right away. The preference to take a deal off eBay may be his go to selling method. No recourse for buyers through the eBay protection measures or feedback options.

The seller is UK based so there is an assumption there that 'the Queens' is his language of choice. No fall back to translation issues. I would recommend you consider Paypal or Credit Card action. Credit Card might see you get the money back AND keep the jacket. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, Chris. PayPal told me repeatedly that once they get an address from the seller for me to return the item, the moment the tracking shows a delivery to the seller, I should get a full refund from PayPal. If he doesn't reply PayPal in time, I get the refund anyways. Fingers crossed. Will also consult y'all when in doubt in the future. Would definitely prefer to buy from you since my B-10 is from you :)

Spot on, Couchy. The way he communicated with me today revealed his manipulative nature and showed me how his friendliness has been nothing but a disguise. All his accusation that I waste his time and that he incurred so much cost without making a sale and that this is not fair to him, and then twice trying to trick me into a private settlement (PayPal staff told me that he's b*llsh*tting about how complicated settlement with PayPal would be). Had I taken his suggestion, I'd probably lose both the jacket and my money.

I should have not been too agreeable or considerate and should have just been strict with him upfront. That way he'd reveal his nature earlier and I wouldn't have had agonized so much over the purchase. Valuable lesson for inexperienced beginners like me :)

Just list his name and address here, in order to avoid others the same if this croock shows up under a different Fleebay ID.

The VLJ vigilante group - lets all turn up at his address and put some pressure on him!! Seriously, even knowing who it is then he could simply change his EBay ID, ultimately though I do find it odd that someone has made a repro of a repro but given the cost of BR gear maybe why. Hope it gets resolved, buying through EBay can be a concern and I fear for anyone when I see A2's for sale using cloned ELC or GW images at silly low prices - I'd like to see what actually turns up, prob some 80's style mall jacket!!!

@johnwayne Thanks a lot for your support! Will provide info if there's no legal liability on my side. Will also update here if the problem is resolved in the next 3 weeks through PayPal. Definitely worth paying the extra to stay on Ebay and PayPal. I'll never trade offline on an Ebay listing again even if I do all the necessary due diligence.

P.S. Watching the 1942 Flying Tigers right now.

Hi
yes and no...for legal consequences...

-Yes,since none is supposed to infringe privacy...even if Facebook and others legally ( illigaly )do it daily....see what happen very recently...
-No, since as long as you only state about facts, no tribunal, no court, no jurisdiction will take the case, since a peanuts case and they are too busy with more important things...The thief however will puke all over it, but well done and deserved....but no chance ever to bring this to a court....especially if facts only are listed....( no insults no slendering etc...).
Maybe the moderators here will cut it short...thats the only consequence.
