Compliments on Your Jacket

My old (30 years old now) Avirex A-2 which I painted when I was still in High school many many years ago gets compliments every time I wear it
At this point it's amazing how many people think it's an "original" WWII jacket.

today wearing my BR N-1, a guy at the post office stopped me saying it reminded him of his dad's jacket from WW2

Shame but the only compliment I ever had on a jacket in the street was also my Avirex "Glen Miler" back in the early 90's :D :D :D the worst jacket I ever had (goofy oversized 80's cut with almost bat sleaves ^^ )

I recently wore my Aero B3 repo jacket to a movie and had 2 people remark about it. One said " I noticed that jacket when you came in--that's a nice looking jacket-sure looks warm!. I assured him it was!

My ELC Irvin gets loads of attention. People are just floored when they see me walking around in it. They ask me loads of questions about it.
What kind of jacket is it.?
Where did I get it?
How long have I had it?
Why am I wearing such a heavy jacket in 75 degree weather in Florida? ;) (Lol!)

I've worn A2's for more than 20 years and can't recall ever having any comment from anyone, even my wife, except from a friend who deals in military surplus. However, the m444 has got a couple of comments this past year-one at Costco from an elderly gentleman who wanted to let me know "that was the type of coat they used to wear in the air force". I don't suppose he was old enough to have worn an m444 during WWII. I'm sorry now I didn't ask whether he had a connection with the air force and had actually worn something like that.

yep, in re the general public and retired military, only the shearling jackets seem to be associated with flying.

Like it batwings on a 90s Avirex I have one of those that I’ve owned sine I was 16 (41) can’t bear idea of throwing never worn in getting on for 20 years. Has anyone ever reduced the width of the arms I’d like to but a couple inches of the width of body would make it a nice fitting jacket in my mind anyway, I realise there will still be gaping arm holes so is it possible nice one Art

That's one of the very big problems with nearly all of the cheapo A-2 jackets - they have very, very low armholes, which makes the jacket body ride up when you lift your arms up to reach for something.

I had that issue with my 1st A2 from a fairly reputable company . Every time I drove my car my jacket was up around my ribs

I get complements on my b3’s and my D1 fairly frequently.
They ask we’re i got it and what it is, you can tell they kinda know what it is or maybe they’d seen it somewhere.
I tell them to watch “the war lover”

I was in Paris recently for a conference on the S.O.E and especially for honored Robert Maloubier (member during the WWII). I had my Irvin WWII, a retired British Parachutist Colonel, a former MI-6 member who was very interested in my irvin and especially in his state of conservation.

I thought about this post on Sunday. Was wearing my 80's leather "bomber" with fake fur removable collar on, which is still a good beater and pretty warm when the temperatures get down. As I was leaving the office, one of my colleagues asked me where I was flying to, tonight. I got this kind of remarks every time I wear it. Now, the funny part is, the rest of the year, I wear my Aero A-2, and nobody ever noticed it was an aviator jacket. Add a dumb fur collar over your brown leather jacket, and there you go, instant WW2 flyer vibe...

Aaaaah, the uneducated mass!

I've a couple of Fonzy remarks when wearing my A2s, nothing from my G1s, B-10 or nylon jackets.

The only positive comment was on my Wested Indy Hero jacket asking if it was old as it looked really cool but that's about it.
