I can't remember it was a while back. The bubble seems to have burst on ridiculously high prices though.

Do you reckon this is an original ? I wouldn’t be too sure without more pics. The seam tapes and epps are very contrasty.

I think so. Look at the wonky leather hanger. The photo is at least a decade old and the Japanese makers at that time didn't use 1/4" thin fleece. On the other hand, the tape seems look a bit repro...

I would assume it's a repro. From my limited experience the thinner fleece US jackets didn't preserve well at all. If original it would be the best example of a worn one I've seen.

Well, I'm not saying it can't be original but for the apparent wear that fleece sure has a lot of color and loft to it. Some parts look older(that epaulette look "Time Worn") but to me it lacks overall patina - what looks dull in the pic appears to be shininess in the lacquer... to me. I would stress that even if that strap might be a bit crooked, note it is forced that way by how the shoulders are rotated on the hangar - note the matching misalignment of the epaulettes. So that strap certainly wouldn't be much of an indicator to me.
Ken's is a fine example but has the patina this lacks. It does have that flat-stored look to the sleeves so...
This is what I feared perfect repros would lead to. Now you had better have provenance just to prove your jacket is old!

Someone who owns an early an early RMCJ might be able to spot some clues that it's a well worn repro.

It's not an ELC, Aero or like these Buzz Ricksons

Being really anal, I dug out a McCoy catalogue from 2000 and the anti-moth tag is sewn under the makers label, Same with Buzz where they have them.

The 'original' appears to have it above the label.
