1950s-60s civy version would be my guess. whats more, from the looks of it, the zipper and knits are original to the jacket. an interesting jacket, and possibly unique.

Flying Equipment out of Chicago made civilian flight jackets (both A-2 and USN) jackets in the 50's/60's.

Sure ? The Zipper looks "modern"... not like talon/Conmar/etc.. and I thought the wist would be rib-rack knitting...
Aniway, if it's a civil version it could be original (never heard about "flyiing equipment Co." as a military manufacturer ;) )

BTW, the zip and knits are replaced. I've seen these Chicago Flying Equip jackets in NYC vintage shops and recall they had black Conmars. At first glance they fooled me and looked like military issue.

I agree with Vic here the zipper is an original 1950s one. It was made by Coats and Clark (C&C marked on the puller). I have seen other versions with Talon and Conmar zips and with conventional waistbands and wristlets. There are two varients on John Chapman's Flight Jacket CD. The wristlets and waistband may not be original to the jacket. Flying Equipment Co was a well known maker in the post War period.

They sold A2s mail order from at least 1947.

This, from John Chapman, is illuminating about the G-1 jackets produced and sold under the Flying Equipment brand name.
