New Eastman 'House Style' Seal Horse - Amazing!

Just thought I'd post a few pics of my new ELC A2 in seal brown horsehide. I've had a number of Eastman A2s, recently a Cable and a Star and I have to say I like this one the best by far. The horsehide is absolutely incredible and it's just your run-of-the-mill Eastman labelled jacket. The pics show somewhat more shine than real life but I didn't want to wait for perfect lighting before sharing a few pics. Look at that wrinkling! I love it!

The weight of this jacket is a tad lighter than some other Eastmans but it gives a very authentic flexible look when worn, something I often find missing on repro A2s. This particular jacket was a re-issue depot purchase at £399 because the upper right shoulder panel is, according to Gary, somewhat stiff.....it's actually not at all. It's 100% perfect so a real bargain. In fact I bought another at full price in an attempt to restock my empty A2 cupboard and it also has the same truly superb horsehide ( I always buy in twos, I have no idea why :? )

What stunning leather,surely it's Warhorse ?

Nope, just the standard horsehide. I have compared it with a couple of warhorse samples I got a few weeks ago. The warhorse actually loses finish too readily for my taste which is why I chose the standard Eastman A2 rather than an original maker type this time.

Impressive. Looks like many guys have upped the game lately. I think JC's offerings really woke them up.

They are just jumping in while the GW prices are up and the queue is still long...
Like factory bonuses on new cars...

No better time to employ a bit of business savvy... ;)

Absolutely lovely A-2!

And what good timing because I'd been looking into an A-2 for my next purchase and had decided that an ELC house in seal HH was what I'm after - your pics make me think I've made the right choice :)

If it looks half as good as yours I'll be bloody happy!

I'm not sure they're 'jumping in', it's not a new hide or model, just a new purchase by me.

And an impressive one at that. I purchased a similar grained house ELC in a 44 in 2009 in seal. Great hide but sold off to pay for other Japanese jackets. It came second hand from Japan. Posted some pics here way back then. Super jacket mate, enjoy the other one as well...

From the sublime to the ridiculous for a moment...One of my ELC RW 1401s (a way-oversize 44, which I use as an outer layer) is made of some of the most featureless leather I've ever seen - so plasticcy and even in color you could make chocolate pudding containers out of it. When and why were they perpetrating that upon the public?

Oh that IS nice! My 1998 ELC in steerhide gave off such a strong chemical smell that it gassed out whatever room I was in for about a year. That one also had that plasticky finish and I doubt would have worn that well, the suede side of the leather was the same russet as the top so it never really showed wear...drum dyed then top-coated I assume.

Oddly, like many fellow members, I spent 2 years obsessing about whether steerhide was even authentic, how times change :)

Here's mine that was purchased back in the early 90s.

It's developed even more grain since the thread was started and is a 46 because the 44 I tried on back then was too snug to my shoulders and chest.
