Nice! On the "Materials" page, is this the standard knit colour or a lighter caramel shade?

Thanks! That photo is what the Medium Brown looks like when exposed to a close range flash burst. They are actually darker in natural light:

Hello everyone, we have a lot of updates to check out on the site! There is now a growing "Testimonials" section and some customer photos as well. There are more Greatest Generation Mfg (aka: Steve S.) Jacket models on the way. They will be posted very soon on the site.

I will be using this thread for future general updates on the site.

The seal A1/caramel knits looks great! I can't wait to get mine :)
Thanks for the comments guys!
That seal A-1 next to the airplane actually has olive knits and a mustard liner. I think it turned out fantastic! A great looking contrast of colors. I will post some other pics of that one soon.

Another completed A-1 goes out to a satisfied customer. You can see his review on our testimonials page: http://www.headwindmfg.com/testimonials.html
This one is a size 36 our smallest size. Note the pocket size looks big because of the small sized jacket. You see this on originals where contract jackets use a standard pocket size regardless of the jacket size.
Our A-1 is available now at our Spring Sale price of $475.

We have procured some fantastic new buttons recently we are very excited about!
100% genuine light brown Italian Horn buttons to go on our A-1 jackets. They are a great match to the originals with the light brown color and thin wide rims:

Also we have a big stock of genuine Bone backing buttons as seen on both original A-1 and 37J1 jackets from the 1920's - 30's.

These new buttons are available now as an option on our reproduction jackets, along with the previously mentioned brown Casein buttons that we recently procured.

There is a lot of new stuff happening at Headwind these days! We have quite a few models coming out in near future. The Goldsmith A-2 will be released soon! Also we have just re-vamped our USN 37J1 model with a new Capeskin that is a match to some of the original hides used. This proprietary hide is specially tanned and dyed for us to our specifications.

Some other exciting releases, a redesigned A-1 Racer jacket. This time in thick 4.5 OZ Aniline Cow Hide. Other options will be 4 OZ vintage seal brown Cow Hide and a 4.5 OZ Vintage Seal Buffalo Hide. As you can see by the weights, these will be true motorcycling jackets in a vintage style.

There will also be some A.G. Spalding 1930's civilian flight jackets coming out in the near future. These have been in the works for a long time. More information was found recently that has made these projects come together. We are in the design phase so keep an eye out for these.

Our models will all be getting upgrades across the board. With all of these upgrades, or course I will have to bump up my prices a little. This is just to cover the increased material costs and so you won't see a huge jump. My prices should still be about 1/2 to 1/3 less than some of the other makers out there after the increases.

Our A-2 racer jacket is another one of our unique house vintage designs. It is based on the early Military type Type A-2 jacket crossed with the sleek lines of the early cafe' Racer jackets. The design offers a classic vintage look with the functionality of a great Motorcycle riding jacket. The snap pockets allow easy access to quickly stow gear, and the stand up collar can be worn open or snapped closed if the weather gets cold.

Top notch vintage hardware finish this jacket off nicely with 100% wool woven knits, 100% cotton thread and liner, and a high quality 1942 reproduction Talon zipper.

It is loosely based on the early Military type Type A-2 jacket and is similar to our A-2 Racer jackets. The big difference with this model is the full leather collar. It provides a distinctively vintage look with a collar that is the perfect shape and size to closely match the many A-2 style Motorcycle jackets that were produced in the 1940's and 50's.
