Lining cleaning

So what are the best practices for cleaning heavily soiled nylon linings in leather jackets? Any tips or tricks, warnings or horror stories you would care to share?

I used one of those small household steam cleaners that look something like a vacuum cleaner. I used an old sock over the small floor attachment to steam clean the filthy woven woolen lining in an old 1930's leather jacket. Not only did it clean the lining to an acceptable standard but also refreshed the cloth to raise the pile and make it feel nice and fresh to the touch. Also removed most of the musty smell. Two application over a week were enough. No doubt it would have sanitised it also. No problems to speak of.
