Imperial G-1 Size 44 on eBay UK - NOW SOLD

In case anyone is interested an Imperial Type G-1 jacket has just been listed on eBay UK with a Buy It Now price of £94.99

It’s a size 44ins chest and if I’ve understood the label correctly looks to date from 1974.

From the listing photographs it appears to be in pretty good condition, although for a jacket labelled as a size 44 the measurements seem to be a little on the small side.

I’ve no connection with either the seller or the jacket and had it been an inch or two larger would’ve bought it myself.

I don’t know if it was anyone on here but the Imperial G-1 appears to have soon been snapped up.
Not surprising really given the condition and price, just a shame it wasn’t a couple of inches larger in the chest.

The seller looks to specialise in vintage clothing and has quite a number of other G-1’s and A-2’s for sale as well.

Would it be possible to get rid of the wrinkles in the jacket or do you think it will be permanent?
Had one exactly like this here, wrinkled and crumbled up from storing pressed between other jackets for a long time. I tried everything but wasn't able to get it look nice and halfway smooth again. Sold it on...

Goatskin is easy to smoothen and very sturdy and robust…so you can:
1) wash/wet it…
2) lay it flat on a big thick towel.
3) oil it with your favorite balm and leather preserver even when still soaked and smoothen it with your hands during drying .
3) repeat the oiling/smoothening every 30 min. until almost dry ..on both sides front and back.
4) wear it to „ shape it“ until totally dry… still rubbing preserver in it.

…It works…

It’s possible other leathers might be different but when I bought my goatskin G-1 jacket it was in a fairly similar wrinkled condition to the Imperial G-1 recently sold on eBay.
However, after being worn just a few times any creases soon dropped or smoothed out and now the jacket looks like any other of a comparable age.
Given the price and overall condition probably the only thing which stopped my buying the Imperial was the pit to pit measurement.
22ins for a jacket labelled 44 seems on the small side but as it was apparently a business seller who sells lots of vintage leather jackets I would assume their measurements were accurate.

This seller very often has nice "project"' G1's, not too long time ago had a few 50's jackets made by Cagleco and Foster, but these were sold out quickly. At this point, this one is not too bad at all, however requires a repair.

Time to fess up. My son bought this as it's more 42 than 44 but he subsequently decided that he has too many jackets and has asked me to sell it for him. Description as per the eBay advert, considering the price it's a decent jacket, most of the creasing should drop out with wear especially during warmer weather. For sale again at £94.99 inc economy delivery as per the eBay sale [UK only for that price]. Payment via PP F&F. No messing, holding.
