Nice! One of the best G1 repros in my opinion. The only thing I don’t like is that the pockets have different sizes.

    Looks a great jacket.

A label makes a difference to buy the jacket for you ?
Many original ww2 jackets has lost their original labels through one reason or another. Still makes them fine jackets

strange... my personal opinion is that a repro jacket should have it brand label and not an original copy.
What will prevent in 10 or 15 years from selling a ruined repro that have an original label copy as an "real original" ?
If I make a perfect copy of a 1959 Gibson Les Paul with the "Gibson" logo/label and a real serial number it's no more a repro.. it's a counterfeit

Very occasionally, and if it’s not available with an original maker label and I really want that jacket, I will buy with a modern maker label. However my preference will always be for an original maker label. For example, with the choice in original maker A-2’s there is I can’t imagine buying a repro maker labelled A-2.

Yes, the ELC G-1 Goat is awesome! Something very different from the A-2s, soft, comfy to wear, looks great on almost any body shapes.

Good point, but replica labels add another layer of authenticity to the jackets, what I like with certain makers is, they add their own tags somewhere more hidden, probably for identification purposes. We all remember that John's jackets had been sold as originals online before.

I think it's just the way the jacket is sat giving the impression that one pocket is slightly bigger that the other, the 55j14 contract has identical sized pockets and it was the M422-a that had a slightly larger left pocket with the addition of the pen slot.

Paul, I used to have one and the pockets did have different sizes. Also asked a German stockist for Eastman and he confirmed (after measuring) that one pocket is wider than the other - good for me, so I do not have to buy one but the moment they change that, an Eastman G1 will be on its way to my place.

label? authenticity? huh? a repro is a repro, is a repro. regardless of authenticity, stitch count, materials, etc, a repro is not an original. your jacket is kickass cool, and meant to be worn, and worn hard, boyo. i wouldnt get buggy about what label is in the collar, unless ya intend to go around wearing the jacket inside out .

While ELC may maintain a house G-1 or M-422A, it is a matter of time until they do more authentic original makers patterns along with labels. I'd put money on it. But of course it will come with a price. As Silver Surfer states: a repro will always remain a repro no matter what, but that original makers label and style adds a little something that warms our hearts and places us a little closer to the fray. Ego booster and bragging rights not withstanding.
