Hi,

Morten from AVI LEATHER here. Please find pictures of our first sample jacket of the Irvin jacket attached. On the sample jacket Talon zippers are used. But we are working on a reproduction of Lightning zippers which soon will be ready.

Please share your feedback :)

On the whole, I think it looks great. One thing that stands out to me is that I don’t think the spec label is supposed to be sewn through the shearling like you see on an AAF shearling jacket. Not sure how it’s attached, but on my Aero repro it seems a lot less stably attached. I assume originals were the same way?

The labels were just tacked in on top of the fleece. That's why a lot of the originals no longer have their labels. Sewn more or less by hand (looks like) in the corners and center of the label, just hand tacked. My 44 doesn't have a label. I would like a label, but I realise that it's common for the label to go missing. Complete opposite of American labels, which when removed from an A-2 for instance lessens the value of the jacket as collectible by approximately one half. I think we expect that the Irvin label has gone astray. Therefore if it is in place, it's a bonus.

Thanks for your feedback. The label was sewn through the shearling on the original jacket we have. But i think this is done as somekind of repair. So we will change it so its not sewn through the shearling.

Great effort there Morten
As others have said the label is the first thing that stood out but you know that now
Have you done the vents under the arms? as they are there on originals
Be great when you get the zippers sorted as that seems to be the main area of improvement needed on most current repros

Usually repros fall short on the zips. Eastman has pretty accurate zips, but they stamp them Eastman, so obviously they are Eastman. If they just said Lightning like the originals. The ones on my original are MOD with a crown. Lightning configuration. The earlier Battle of Britain era are MOD but different configuration.
