Dubow 1755 Combat Clone by Good Wear

There’s an old saying in the U.S. ..........”Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while”
Well, I can definitely relate to that statement. This is the Dubow 1755 Combat Clone that was most recently on JC’s website being offered for sale. I’ve been a fan of the dark seal Dubow A2 ‘s for quite sometime, particularly the 1755 contract with the faded purple knits. A friend of mine and a forum member, Brian (Saucerfiend) told me that this jacket might be available in the near future. I won’t bore you guys with the ins and outs of the deal, but I was able to purchase this beauty and I couldn’t be more happier with it. The fit is very trim and I might have to loose a pound or two to make it a spot on fit, but that’s a small problem to contend with to get one of your bucket list jackets. Most of all I want to shout out a thank you to JC and Brian for making this all possible. Thanks guys!!
The photos of the zipper and the orange lining are all period correct for this jacket, as verified in Gary Eastman’s A2 book. Please feel free to post comments or likes and dislikes.
Cheers

Now that is what you call a quality repro, proof that you get what you pay for and, without the wait time! I've said many times here that when I put my GW Doniger on for the first time some 9 years ago it felt perfect in every respect and still feels as good today.

So awesome looking. Would have bought that 10 times over if he fit was right. Congrats.
If my BK dubow was half as beautiful as this I’d be thrilled.

Is this the same Dubow that's still showing on GW's website? I'm assuming it is and he's just not got around to saying it's sold! I did seriously consider that myself, a cracking looking A2 and the next best thing to a mint original IMO - evidence if any was needed of JC's skill and mastery of his art. I know not everyone here raves about GW like some but once you've got one it puts others in the shade, again IMO!

I love everything about that jacket B-Man2! Its fantastic, what a score. I love how the knits or not 'reddy', more like a neutral purple. I also love that khaki-like thread. Super stuff.
Now... Fit pics please.

Spot on, glad somebody on here snagged that one
The Leather looks really nice, better in your pics than on the site
Wear it in good health

That is one fantastic looking jacket, Burt. Tons of character on that leather. A score no less. Is "combat clone" GW's artificial ageing process? Similar to ELC's "time-worn"?
Wear it in good health.

Combat clone I believe is the term used by John Chapman and Diamond Dave for their more budget ranged jackets collaboration sold by DD ( sure he’ll comment if incorrect) but in this instance according to JC that Dubow has had just a light sanding to age but in essence yes it’s the same as ELC time worn, made for the impatient among us or who don’t wish to beat the hell out of a new jacket!!

Couldn't do much better with that fit unless you ordered it yourself from what I see. :) Sleeves, shoulders, P-P, and length all great, and a nice amount of 'blousing' over the waistband. Looks VERY authentic to me. I'll bet it's quite comfortable to wear.
