HI Guys, I've seen a number of these through the years. They are privately made Tanker's Jackets made and worn in Korea. They mainly date after the fighting ended and things became more like occupation. We aren't sure if they were sewn up in Korea or Japan but many of them have parachute...
The military in WWII had different classifications for issue of items of all kinds
1 standard, the current standard issue item which supersedes any previous similar items and is the priority for production and issue
2 limited standard, a classification for items that are still approved for...
it's not actually military, it's a commercial jacket. I have seen some of these where a veteran had one painted to represent the jacket he wore during the war, but that's purely speculative.
was wondering if anyone had information, photos or even actual garments made by Barbour for the armed forces especially in WWII
I have several regular barbours that I've worn for decades and became curious if the UK military had contracted with them
Thanks in advance
they are lovely jackets, I had one several decades ago. It was in overall poor condition but it fit and kept me warm and because it was blue it always looked good

If it was redyed post war and isn't in a correct shade than Im afraid it probably harms the value
Love to see photos

today...
thank you for sharing, I've frequently seen these mis-identified as pre-war flight jackets but you have accurately reported them as a CCC enlisted jacket
They are very hard to find
Great piece
it was the late 1990s maybe early 2000s and since I was a kid seeing their late night ads, I always wanted to visit "The cockpit" store in NYC and buy an A-2
Back then there really weren't any other options for authentic A-2s
I had bought my first Avirex back in 1985, at a local Army/Navy...
