If I may put in my $.02 worth (albeit a little late)...
As a former USAF aviator I belonged to several units and major commands, so I'm afforded a smorgasbord of different patches appropriate for wear on my jacket and flight suit, and don't have to ask myself "Gee, what looks cool today?" As...
Looks like a good fit, but to be brutally -- but respectfully -- honest, the squared off shoulders would be a huge turn off for me. I dealt with Shawn a few times and each time I've requested "lots of shoulder roll," he delivered.
You would have liked my father's 97th BG and 341st BS patches. Was issued them in the war and never sewed them on anything, not even once. I finally sent them to a collector to find them a good home upon my passing. So, they do exist, but as you point out, one must be very careful.
Anyone know where I can get the current patch worn by the Blue Angels on their G-1? I know A-2 Jacket Patches makes one, but it's smaller than the issue patch...and I'm afraid that's my fault. I gave him incorrect measurements when I placed the original order.
Standard issue Belleville flying boots when I'm wearing the "zoom bag", and one pair of leather 8/P's for old time's sake. Off-the-shelf Nike Air Jordans when in civvies. Haven't needed anything else.
I'm wearing an off-the-shelf Casio G-Shock, which is what I wear each day every day. It's what the USAF issues now (at least they were fifteen years ago when I bought it). Solar powered, self-setting, keeps excellent time. Haven't had a need for anything else, though I bought a spare about a...
I like it. You've chosen a fit that allows some blousing at the waist. I've seen too many jackets purchased that have a "skin tight" look that just wasn't true to the originals. I have this same jacket. I like the fit (on myself), but am not happy with the hide. It has that "pressed goat" look...
I've recently got a Star and a Roughwear in HH from Five Star and I think they are spot on. Love them both. I have a Dubow in goat that is so-so...wearable but doesn't look all that great. Hopefully they've found some better goat. My first Five Star was a Doniger and it was, well, not good at...
Hi. Welcome to VLJ. I bought the same jacket a couple of years ago and was happy with the fit and the cut and all, but I felt the goatskin was a little TOO goatskin...meaning it looked like the pressed cowhide the Navy used on their G-1s, only more so. It's a good enough jacket and that makes it...
