I'm not familiar with the company or the reasons they went bust, but if it was due to lower demand, you'd expect leather prices to drop as well, wouldn't you? Although it's obvious that hasn't been happening. I suppose with one less player in the market, it will give the competition a greater...
Hmm, seems black and tan is the look this year. Here's Schott's new "Carney Perfecto"

Just to update as I haven't been around here much in recent months -- I ended up getting the Fox Creek Grayson and it is an awesome jacket. All the reviews I read that led to my decision were spot on. Thick, tough yet soft and comfortable. The fit is great. Thanks for the helpful advice!
I'm...
Thanks Van,
that leather looks awesome. You jacket must be a real beauty. I definitely like that sheen. I've had a couple of Schott jackets in their naked leather so I know what you mean about that dull absorbent surface.
This really is a tough decision.
Well, I've read that Fox Creek offers thick and heavy naked leather and I imagine Vanson's cowhide leather might be more comparable to Aero horsehide with that hard shellacked-type finish, although I have never seen a Vanson in person. I have owned a few Aeros and I have to say the stiffness...
The 641 is definitely nice but it's still very similar to the 141 and I'm looking for something a bit longer. I'm actually now considering the Vanson Model A over the Model B. I called Vansons and spoke to a rep and he said the Model A and B are about the same length and very similar except that...
The Vanson is the one I was really interested in from the beginning and would actually like to try an off-the-rack. I've found that off the rack sizes usually fit me fine, which is one of the factors supporting Schott. I've owned a number of Schotts in the past and know how they fit. I wear size...
Really? I have never seen one in person but was under the impression they were quite tough, rugged riding jackets. Maybe that Schott wouldn't be off the mark in terms of Brimaco-like feel, but it still wouldn't make sense to get as a riding jacket. Oh well.
Greetings,
I'm looking for something to possibly replace my Schott 141 as a riding jacket and would greatly appreciate any comments, words of wisdom or other recommendations.
I'm looking for a jacket that is a tad sturdier and a bit longer than my 141. Ideally I'd love a brand new Brimaco but...
Just wondering if anyone here may have any info on this new U.S. Wings model. Looks quite cool, but would like to know how if fits.

Thanks for the replies -- yeah, they both look great. I guess the Crescent just has the longer cut and the lower kidney panel in the rear. At first I really preferred the straight zip on the Cascade, but the diagonal cut is growing on me.
I know the Cascade usually comes with the diagonal zip, but in what other ways does the Cascade differ from the Langlitz Crescent? I've been checking out the Langlitz catalogue but unfortunately it doesn't provide a whole lot of detailed info. I'd really like to check some of the jackets out in...
