Thanks. Just to clarify I believe the mouton was a NOS. Was told that they were a huge company but I don't think they are still running.
May be wrong but I'll let others chime in!
Thanks, it really is a fantastic jacket. Depending on your preference for the fit, the G&F could well serve as a all-rounder. The roomier torso is perfect for layering and you don't need to worry about trading comfort for style.
You may have seen this, but this was the trigger for me...
Updating the details
Gordon & Ferguson AN-J-3A
Since I have got my hands on my first navy jacket (Willis & Geiger AN-J-3A) it has pretty much been my go-to jacket when it comes to travelling. The bi-swing back design gives the maximum arm movement and it's warm enough for slightly cooler...
Folks, I hope everyone is keeping well. It's been a long time since I last posted a thread given there have been some changes in life. Anyway, my passion for military jackets is still going strong and a few years ago I have started to become selective in building a wardrobe with specific...
It's been a while since I posted here as life just got (really) busy. As luck may have it I was able to speak with John today - there was so much to catch up on and the chat lasted for 2 hours! It was so good to hear his voice as always and happy to report that he's as passionate about military...
That's very true. I actually started with one GW as the only A-2 for 8 years until I ordered three from John when I was expecting and had my first and second born. I liked the idea of being able to pass on something to them, whether or not this will pan out in reality in another thing. The...
I ended up finishing my day with the last work call at 1am. Hit the sack and woke up at 6am to make breakfast for my little ones and wife then went out for a 'jog' in my jacket for 2 hours . Leather feels incredibly soft and pliable, and wears very differently than my other jackets, even the old...
I had promised myself not to get another jacket that is not planned and I've been successful for the past 5 years. Well, not anymore now that I have received this package from Japan!
Wife has taken a photo for me as I'm working late today - can't wait to unbox it tomorrow morning! More to come!
The knits are Japanese and feels robust. I thought I'd enjoy letting the collar stand but it's rather prickly on the neck if I'm not wearing a shirt. I'll probably give it time to let it wear and lay flat.
Thanks Stainer, I originally wanted to have a slender A-1 to avoid risking a baggy fit as opposed to the blouson look. I am quite pleased with the GW as overall it strikes a balance between the classic blouson appearance and a contemporary fit. Certainly changed my view on an A-1.
Yes, I love the new pattern with the nuances. The jacket you showed is actually the prototype made in preparation of my jacket! Some tweaks here and there, and here we have an A-1 with GW label!
